Pittman and Sweet go back-to-back and both find victory lane

It’s hard to believe, but there’s only ten races to go in the 2015 World of Outlaws season. Both Daryn and Brad picked up wins on back-to-back nights on their latest road trip, and the haulers made their way back to KKR for the first time in over six weeks on Sunday night.

The next event on the schedule is this weekend at Eldora on Friday and Berlin Raceway on Saturday.

Great Clips Team Grabs Fourth Win of Season While in Canada

Daryn Pittman and the Great Clips team won their fourth race of the season last Saturday night at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Brad Sweet and the Ollie’s team were looking to make it a KKR 1-2 sweep when he was involved in a crash after contact from another car while racing for second with only a few laps to go.

This week the teams work their way back to the Kasey Kahne Racing motherland – the Pacific Northwest – with races at Skagit Speedway and Grays Harbor Raceway this weekend and early next week.

Great Nationals Week in Iowa, 49 Team Adds New Crew Chief

Well known Pennsylvania crew chief Lee Stauffer was added to the No. 49 teams roster earlier this month, and the team quickly found success by winning the $20,000 to win Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway last Monday, the week leading up to the Knoxville Nationals.

The KKR teams worked hard over four nights of racing at the most prestigious race week on the World of Outlaws schedule, finishing inside the top 10 in their qualifying races and they both finished in the top five in Friday night’s World Challenge race.

On Saturday, Brad Sweet captured his first career podium finish in the Knoxville Nationals, the richest race on the schedule which pays $150,000 to the winner. Daryn Pittman started the 50-lap race in 15th, and worked his way up to seventh before the checkered flag.

The teams kick off a mid-west to west-coast swing tonight at Junction Motor Speedway in Nebraska before stops in North Dakota, Alberta Canada, Washington, Oregon and California.

Month of Money Begins

One of the busiest stretches of the World of Outlaws season is now underway. With 16 feature events over the span of 30 days visiting Kansas, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Ontario, Canada and then back to the mid-west, July and August on the World of Outlaws tour prove to be the most grueling months in motor sports.

Brad Sweet and the No. 49 team picked up their third win of the season June 24th at I-96 Speedway in Michigan, while Daryn Pittman and the No. 9 team continue to contend for wins and finish up front night in and night out.

Kasey also got back into the action taking a car to Attica Raceway Park and Eldora for two All-Star Circuit of Champions races in mid-June. He had a race-winning run going at Attica before contact with only a few to go slipped him to a 5th place-finish, and Eldora was a great race as he started near the tail of the field and passed a lot of cars by the end of the race.

Sweet Brings Razor-Back Team to Victory Lane for First Time

After a very tough team night at Placerville, Brad Sweet and the No. 49 team won their second race of the year on Saturday at Calistoga. This was the third consecutive win for Kasey Kahne Racing at “The Wine Country Outlaw Showdown” dating back to 2014.

At Brad Sweet’s Placerville Showdown on Wednesday night, Daryn Pittman was caught up in a multi-car crash that left him upside down, on fire, and with a broken collar bone. He flew home to Indianapolis the next day for surgery, and was at home recovering by the next afternoon.

I was announced today that Daryn has been cleared to return to action this week, he’ll be back in the No. 9 Great Clips car tomorrow night at Kings Speedway in Hanover, CA.

Thanks to Cody Darrah for filling in for Daryn last week at Calistoga!

The teams worked hard the next morning to get the cars repaired and ready for night two, where both teams bounced back with Brad finishing third and Daryn eighth.

2014 season winding down; personnel changes at KKR

The end of the racing season is here. A quick way to tell, for sprint car fans anyway, is most of the shows are now on Saturday nights as opposed to the often mid summer mid-week shows throughout the country. To close out the season, the KKR teams are in-shop from Monday to Thursday evening, with Friday’s designated as a travel day for the remaining four events of 2014.

KKR has gone through a few personnel changes recently, with No. 49 crew chief David Fero moving over to the NASCAR world in 2015 as a mechanic on Kyle Larson’s No. 42 Sprint Cup car. Former No. 9 mechanic Mike Carber was promoted to the No. 49 crew chief for Brad Sweet, and Austin Wenrch, a seasoned mechanic from Pennsylvania, was added to the No. 49 crew.

Rain Slows First Night of 54th Annual Knoxville Nationals; Pittman Wins World Challenge on Saturday Night

Rain early in the week in Knoxville slowed the start of the 54th Annual Knoxville Nationals, and as it is every year, the competition was fierce, lots of fans, and lots of racing. Over 100 cars entered this year’s event with the goal of winning the $150,000 A-main on Saturday night.

All three KKR teams made the main event, with Daryn Pittman winning Saturday night’s World Challenge event – with Brad Sweet finishing third – and Sweet also won the hard charger award by advancing 10 positions in the 50-lap race.

Last night the Outlaw tour stopped in McCool Junction, Nebraska. Brad Sweet challenged for the win coming home in fourth, while Pittman collected another top-10 finish. Cody Darrah won the team appointed “Kitchen Sink” award as everything but the kitchen sink was thrown at the team throughout the night. The 4 team never gave up and came home 14th.
