Sweet captures back-to-back quick times, Pittman moves to fifth in standings

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series held two races in California last week, closing out a seven-race stretch in the Golden State.

Friday at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif. was a tough night for both teams. The No. 49 NAPA AUTO PARTS/Sage Fruit/ASE team caught a rut and got into the wall with the right rear corner of the car during the feature. Crew chief Kale Kahne and team worked to get the car back out on the track, but weren’t quite able to complete repairs in time. Daryn and the No. 9 Great Clips/Sage Fruit/ASE team had a rare “off night,” finishing the feature in 20th.

Both teams rebounded the following night at Perris with Brad capturing another quick time and battling for the win in the feature, eventually coming home second. Daryn ran very strong all night and captured his eighth top-10 of the year finishing seventh, moving the team into the top-5 in the championship standings.

Sweet Wins in Stockton

Brad Sweet and the No. 49 NAPA AUTO PARTS/ASE/Sage Fruit team won their first race of the season, and first in NAPA colors, on Saturday night in Stockton, Calif. Daryn Pittman and the No. 9 Great Clips/ASE/Sage Fruit team didn’t have the qualifying effort they were looking for, but showed championship caliber resiliency and battled back through the heats to earn a 10th-place starting spot in the feature, eventually coming home in sixth when the checkered flags flew in the A-main.

Last night in Placerville, Calif. was the third annual Brad Sweet’s Short Track Showdown at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif.
