LAS VEGAS – (March 6, 2015) – For the 79th time in his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career, Chevrolet’s Jeff Gordon captured the pole position and will lead the 43-car field to the green in the KOBALT 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Gordon set the track qualifying record in his No. 24 3M Chevy SS with a lap of 27.738 seconds (193.278 mph). It is the first time in his 24-year career that Gordon will start from the pole at the 1.5-mile track. Continue reading Chevy Racing– JEFF GORDON PUTS CHEVROLET SS POWER ON POLE AT LAS VEGAS

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 3M CHEVROLET SS – Pole Winner:
THAT WAS A STOUT LAP:
“Well, I didn’t come off the throttle much, if any; I know I had to blip it just the tiniest, tiniest bit. The lap before, in the second session, I was a little conservative and the car just stuck so good, I thought when I heard some of the lap times that were up there, I knew that we were going to go get the pole. You’ve got to be fully committed and just go for it. So, I drove it down into (Turn) 1; I may have come off of it just a tiny bit, but it wasn’t much at all. And it stuck so good, I was like okay. Do I run wide open through (Turns) 3 and 4? I don’t know. It was real close. There was a lot of wide-open throttle there. It was fun. What an awesome 3M Chevrolet. What a turnaround from last week. I’m just so proud of this team and keeping their heads up. Last week was a tough one, and this is a great, great way to start out weekend here in Las Vegas.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Las Vegas–Qualifying Notes

WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT YOUR TEAM?
“It says a lot of good things. I’m just so excited that the guys could understand. We have new guys. So, this new team could understand what I was complaining about and things I didn’t like about my race car. We thought we were a top 10 car last night. And I’m sorry to tell you earlier today that we weren’t going to be that good, because we certainly were. We had some troubles on pit road. Once we kind of got through and I got by the No. 19 (Carl Edwards), which allowed us to keep track position and we didn’t get tripped-up on our pit stops. This thing was just bad fast. I had a blast racing with the No. 4 (Kevin Harvick). He was awfully strong today. I think track position there at the end just kind of set things in place. We had the restart we needed to and cleared the No. 88 (Dale Earnhardt Jr.) and off we went.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Atlanta–Post Race

KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 4 JIMMY JOHN’S/BUDWEISER CHEVROLET SS – QUALIFIED 2ND
HOW MUCH OF AN ADJUSTMENT DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE FROM ROUND 1 TO THE FINAL ROUND?
“I just did a bad job. Obviously, In Round 1 I missed Turn 1 and in the last round, I missed Turn 1 again and just didn’t get to the bottom like I needed to in order to get back in the throttle. I’m just really proud of everybody on our Jimmy John’s/Budweiser Chevrolet for everything that they’ve done. We have a fast car. The No. 22 (Joey Logano) has probably been the fastest in a single car run, but I feel really good about our car on the long haul and that’s what matters.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Atlanta Qualifying

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 TARGET CHEVROLET SS – FINISHED 34TH
ON THE DAY
“It was a pretty eventful race. I spent the first 80 or so laps, just riding. And then we came down pit for green flag stops. My shifter had broken; and I couldn’t find my shifter and just got confused on pit road and missed my pit box and then sped leaving; so we got down a lap. I was able to get my lap back and we raced hard and then was in 12th or 15th and just got turned off (Turn) 2. But we were all just racing hard there on the last laps. That’s how this racing goes.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona 500 Post Race

GIVE US A SUMMARY OF YOUR OFF-SEASON, AND HOW YOU FEEL GOING INTO TODAY’S GREAT RACE
“I’m excited that today is finally here. It seems like you put in a lot of time out of the race car and a lot of things going on with the New Year and sponsorships and production days; so it’s been a busy off-season trying to get our offices and everything moved to Charlotte. So, I’m just excited to be here and heck, I race the car for a living so, things could be a lot worse. I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to hopefully try and put our name on that trophy again at the end of the day.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona 500–Kevin Harvick
