TALK ABOUT YOUR CAR AND WHAT YOU EXPECT FOR THE WEEKEND AS WE HEAD INTO QUALIFYING LATER TODAY:
“A tire change and decrease in horsepower definitely changes this place a lot. We are kind of just throwing all of our notes out of what we had in the past that has worked. It’s like starting all over again. We had some challenges today we weren’t near as good as we were hoping to be. We are working diligently to try to improve our qualifying effort that is going to happen here in a little bit. Then kind of go through our notes this evening to see what we can start with tomorrow to make some improvements. Just the fact that you are driving much deeper into the corners with less power makes a huge impact here because of the big dips and bumps going into (Turn) 3. It really loads the car up much more aggressively over there. It makes those bumps seems like they are even worse than what we have had in the past. That is just one of the little things that when you take 100 horsepower out of the cars how it can change your approach in your set-up and what you have to do to get around a race track such as Dover.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Dover–Jeff Gordon

“I feel good about it. I’m excited about this race track. It’s been such a great place to me over the years and certainly a place I’ve loved to drive at. I have probably told this story way too many times, but I go all the way back to my first trip here in an ASA (American Speed Association) car and it was love at first site. It’s been great to me and look forward to another strong weekend.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Dover–Jimmie Johnson

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, NO 2 VERIZON TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET, WINNER OF 99TH RUNNING OF THE INDIANAPOLIS 500 met with media Monday and discussed his second victory in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Full transcript:

THE MODERATOR: We’ll go ahead and get started with our availability with the winner of the 99th Indianapolis 500, Juan Pablo Montoya.
A little less than 24 hours since you took the checkered flag there. Has it sunk in yet that you’ve won the Indy 500 for a second time?
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA: I think it has. Sorry, my voice is not at its best after the screaming yesterday.
I think yesterday it did. I mean, as I was coming to the line, I was really happy. It was like, It’s happening. You know, it’s pretty cool.
After that, I don’t know, I get really excited for a very short time, then it’s, Let’s move on, next. You know what I mean?
Even last night I was thinking, Okay, we got to make sure, you know, we done really well this year so far, we got pretty much four podiums in six races, two wins out of six races. We got to make sure we keep the ball rolling if we want to try to win the championship.
You know that Will’s going to be there every week. Dixon is going to be there every week, so… It’s going to be hard.
It’s exciting. It’s exciting to start the season like that. So it’s pretty cool. Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Juan Pablo Montoya

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S PATRIOTIC CHEVROLET SS – Sidelined on Lap 275 in single car spin & crash. The team made repairs, and Johnson returned to the competition on lap 331.

WHAT WAS GOING ON OUT THERE?
“For us the car was just really loose. It was fast, but as soon as I would get close to somebody else my car would bug out and get so edgy. Lost it twice, about had it saved both times. Once we would get in clean air and get strung out I could fly up through the field and went from last to fifth there. Then I had a lap car on the outside and a car I had been stalking on the bottom and then I tried to roll into the top behind the lap car. The thing just bugged out in the dirty air and around it went again. A tough day to try to get the balance right in the car.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Coca-Cola 600

TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF STARTING OUT THE SEASON STRONGLY AND HOW YOU PLAN TO CARRY THAT MOMENTUM INTO 600 LAPS HERE IN CHARLOTTE
“We’ve obviously had a great start to the year and last week was just another great week. Like I talk all the time, I’m just really lucky to be a part of team that’s got a leader like Rodney Childers and an organization that’s really committed to doing what we have to do to be competitive to win races. The best part about this team is they just keep their head down, grinding away on new things and constantly working on pushing forward.

“I heard somebody ask Jimmie (Johnson) a question about the windshield. There is some pretty remarkable video of some projectile at NASCAR did and actually changed the front window leading into last year with some different layers and different things that were mandatory with the cars. Without that windshield that NASCAR put into place, that would have been a much, much uglier piece of video. I wish that you guys (the media) could see some of those projectile tests that they did with different objects with the new windshields.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Charlotte–Kevin Harvick

TALK ABOUT COMING INTO A RACETRACK WHERE YOU CONSISTENTLY RUN SO WELL AND WHAT YOUR EXPECTATIONS ARE FOR THIS WEEKEND?
“It’s always great to come to a track that you have a great past at, great history at. Unfortunately the showing we had in the All-Star race was less than stellar. The confidence we would normally walk in with has been diluted with lack of speed that we had then. Brought back a different car and certainly trying to do things differently with the set-up of the racecar. I think the 600 mile race has always been good for us. Chad (Knaus, crew chief) and I seem to fix our racecar as the night goes on, be aggressive with adjustments, chase the racetrack well and I do a nice job searching for line. The distance of the race doesn’t bother me. I think we will have a strong night, but we have a few things to sort out today and even into Saturday’s practice sessions. Based on what we learned and what we saw during the All-Star race.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Charlotte–Jimmie Johnson

SCOTT DIXON, NO. 9 TARGET CHIP GANASSI RACING CHEVROLET – Pole Winner
“To be honest, it was a little better than what we thought, especially on the first lap. I thought we would be around a mid-226 mph or a low 226 mph. I’m not sure if we got a gust of wind, but we’ll take it. I think the Team Target guys did a hell of a job to get the combination together. You just have to take your best guess at it and hope it works. Winning the pole means a lot. I’m just so proud of everybody at Team Target whether it’s the engineers and everybody that has worked so hard to get the speed out of this car. I’m stoked. Just extremely happy that we are on the pole. I wasn’t sure when we went so early that it was going to stick, but I’m glad it did.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Qualifying

SCOTT DIXON, NO. 9 TARGET CHIP GANASSI RACING CHEVROLET: IS THAT WHAT YOU GUYS EXPECTED?

“To be honest, it was a little better than what we thought, especially on the first lap. I thought we would be kind of around a mid-226 mph or a low 226 mph. I’m not sure if we got a gust of wind. But we’ll take it if that is what is going to help. It is hard going early because a lot of our competition or the ones that will be fighting for the pole will obviously coming quite late on in the run especially Penske guys. I think the Team Target guys did a hell of a job to get the combination together. The worked hard. You work and your mindset is on one combination a for a whole week, even the lead up to it on low boost. Then a low configuration and a high boost, then it changes. You just have to take your best guess at it and you got a small feeling in a session and you really know how it is going to be. A SECOND PLACE FINISH AFTER STARTING DEAD LAST; WHAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE FINAL 10 LAPS?
“I thought we were in a really good spot there at the end with our Hunt Brothers Pizza Chevy. As soon as Denny (Hamlin) moved up that one time it kind of took the air off. I had committed to the middle of the corner. Once I got to the middle of the corner the car just washed all the way up the race track and I had to lift way out of the gas to get the car back off the wall. All-in-all just really proud of everybody on this team; I’ve got to thank Hunt Brothers, Jimmy John’s, Budweiser, Chevrolet, Mobil 1, everybody who is a part of this program, DiTech and Outback for everything that they do.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASÇAR–Sprint All-Star Race Post Race
