TONY KANAAN, NO. 10 NTT DATA CHIP GANASSI RACING CHEVROLET, FINISHED 2ND: That was one of the most nerve-wracking races I’ve ever been a part of, but I can’t be too upset with a podium-finish. We battled up front all day and the No. 10 NTT DATA Chevrolet was really quick. I was actually in the middle of a pass when that last yellow came out, so who knows what could’ve happened if we would’ve stayed green until the end.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Fontana–Post Race

IT’S NEVER A PERFECT LAP, BUT HOW CLOSE WAS IT?
“They were both pretty good. We had that first caution on my first lap, and it’s just one of those things. You’ve got to re-set your mind. But, the Kingsford Chevy has been good these first two days. I’ve really got to thank all my guys that are hear and especially back at the shop. They’ve worked on this car so much to do everything that we need to get as much speed out of it as possible. So, it’s a good day, but we’ve got to focus on tomorrow.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–SONOMA–Qualifying

SIMON PAGENAUD, NO. 22 PENSKE TRUCK RENTAL TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET, POLE WINNER: “It’s good. We’ve been working really hard on the No. 22 Penske Truck Rental Chevrolet Team – it’s a brand new team. It’s gelling really well and I’m super happy to get a superspeedway pole. It’s an amazing feeling. It’s a totally different day tomorrow. This (pole) is nice, but frankly, you can win from the back in a 500 mile race. Lots of traffic tomorrow and it’s going to be important to keep your tires underneath you. Being able to run in different lanes and being smart in traffic is going to be key. And obviously there is going to be a lot of pit stops too – so there’s a lot for tomorrow, but I’m just going to take this tonight and enjoy it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Fontana Qualifying

KURT BUSCH, NO. 41 HAAS AUTOMATION CHEVROLET SS – RACE WINNER
IT TAKES A TEAM TO GO TO VICTORY LANE. BUT, DOES RICK CARELLI, YOUR SPOTTER, GET THE BONUS AWARD TODAY FOR HOW HE HELPED YOU WORK THROUGH TRAFFIC?
“Absolutely. It’s amazing when you have team chemistry at the level we do. I grew-up watching Rick Carelli and Ron Hornaday, the legends of the Southwest Tour run; and to have Carelli as my spotter, I have so much respect for him. And he has so much wisdom to gain. And he’s a good mentor. He teaches me so many things. It’s a team combination all the way around. Tony Gibson (crew chief) led these guys through a back-up car. And the pit crew was there, giving their best. It’s an unbelievable feeling to know what we went through, paced ourselves, and found the lead toward the latter part of the race when the rain came in. JOSEF NEWGARDEN, NO. 67 HARTMAN OIL CFH RACING CHEVROLET, RACE WINNER: “Just an amazing team effort. I can’t believe we did a 1-2 there. I got a little close there with Luca (Filippi) but we were just trying to keep up and after we got into the final stint I got into a little bit of lapped traffic and I couldn’t do anything with lap traffic. They really wanted me to because of everyone that was coming. It was close racing but for sure too, I got a little lucky and you have to look at that. I got lucky on that yellow. It was a great call though and you can’t discount it that it was a great call by the team. It was an amazing effort by this team and the crew who gave me amazing pit stops. We were disappointed by qualifying because we knew we had a fast car. I am so happy to get a win, but a 1-2 is just amazing. Luka is just such a star and it was just amazing for us that he could get a second place as well. We gave this team a 1-2 their first year together and that is just an amazing job by everyone and so happy for the whole group.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Toronto–Post Race
