TALK ABOUT HOW YOUR CAR IS SO FAR. HOW HAVE THE PRACTICES GONE AND HOW THE NO. 24 CHEVROLET IS OPERATING:
“It was good to get out there and get some laps. I think we all recognize how important it was to do that before the race tomorrow because of this new package and the things we are trying and the unknowns. This is a tricky racetrack. Certainly that is no secret. It is a very challenging racetrack. You take 1000 pounds of downforce off the cars, as well as the reduction in horsepower that we have had all year, but have not run here yet. We need track time. I was glad we were able to get on there today. We would have liked to have had it with the data acquisition on the cars like we planned on having on Wednesday, but we will take whatever we can get. TALK ABOUT RACING AT KENTUCKY THIS WEEKEND WITH THE NEW RULES PACKAGE AND HOW YOU THINK YOUR CAR WILL ADAPT TO THAT
“I was part of the tire test here a few months ago. So, I was somewhat looking forward to coming back because we did get to spend three days here on the track. It will be certainly a little bit different with the rules package, but really, after talking with the team and some of the wind tunnel stuff they’ve done, I don’t expect there to be something crazy different with the set-up or really, it’s just going to be less grip. It will be interesting to see how important tires are going to be. This tire is the same tire we’re going to run with the other, with 1,000 pounds more downforce. I think the wear will be a little bit less. But I don’t know. Until we get to practice, it’s hard to say.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Kentucky–Jamie McMurray

YOUR FIRST REACTION WASN’T ‘HEY WE WON’ YOU WERE WORRIED ABOUT AUSTIN DILLON AND EVERYONE ELSE:
“Yeah that scared the hell out of me, I will be honest with you. I saw the whole thing happen. You are looking in the mirror the whole last lap. I saw Denny (Hamlin) get turned. I guess that is kind of how it started. That was terrifying to watch. You know a wreck like that has such a high potential for someone to get injured and you saw the car get high and get into the fence. You just worry about everybody else in the grandstands and all that stuff. You just don’t want to see that happen. It was touch and go there for several moments. I’m more thankful that everybody is okay than to be standing here in Victory Lane that is for sure.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona Post Race–Dale Earnhardt Jr.

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 COCA-COLA CHEVROLET SS – Involved in a multi-car accident on lap 105
WHAT HAPPENED FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE?
“The first time we caught the lapper and he was on the bottom and I just got to the middle at the wrong time. When we turned off into the corner I got really loose and was able to save it. I had a little bit of damage there and lost a lap. Then in the second one the No. 43 (Aric Almirola) comes across. I think I just got on the brakes and it got me sideways. I was along for the ride from there. I hate it because this was probably the best I’ve ran throughout a whole race or most of the race here at Daytona. The Share a Coke Chevy was fast. I had a lot of fun running up front and kind of being somewhat aggressive. I spun the first time and then that kind of put us in a bad spot there to get in that last wreck.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona–Post Race

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 AXALTA CHEVROLET SS met with media and discussed his final race behind the wheel at Daytona, the drivers council, track safety enhancements, and more. Full Transcript:

THIS IS YOUR FINAL RUN AT DAYTONA. TALK ABOUT THAT
“Yeah, definitely. This track is extremely special to me. Of course we all know how much this track means to our sport. And I’m pretty bummed that it (qualifying) rained out. We were on a heck of a streak this year, with two poles on the superspeedways. I wanted to keep that going and I felt like yesterday our car had some really good speed and that we had a shot at doing that. I’ll start 24th. That’s not a bad place to start. So, yeah, it’s hard for me to really put all those thoughts and feelings into perspective, knowing that I have half the season still to go. I don’t think it’s really going to hit me until we get further down into the final part of the season, but this place has meant a lot. It’s going to be tough not coming back here and being behind the wheel. But I’m also really excited about calling this race next February.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona– Jeff Gordon

EARNHARDT, JR. WAS FASTEST IN THE FIRST PRACTICE SESSION YESTERDAY AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY AND AS A RESULT WILL START FROM THE POLE POSITION IN THE 160-LAP/400-MILE COKE ZERO 400.

WHEN YOU GO OUT IN THAT FIRST PRACTICE SESSION KNOWING THAT IS GOING TO SET THE LINE-UP FOR THE FIELD IF THE WEATHER TURNS SOUTH. DO YOU PUT ANY EXTRA EFFORT OUT THERE TO PUT UP THAT BIG NUMBER?
“I asked Greg (Ives, crew chief) before we went out to practice what we were trying to accomplish in that first practice and that was the first thing he mentioned was to go out that first run and try to put a lap down because the weather wasn’t looking real good for today. That was his decision. It ended up working out for us.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona Qualifying

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE THE COCA-COLA COLORS ON YOUR CAR THIS WEEKEND?
“It’s good. They are similar to our Target colors. It won’t be hard for my spotter to find me out there (laughs). Yeah, it’s cool to have Coke a part of the Target family this year. It’s pretty neat to be part of that. For this race, too, it’s neat to drive a Coke car out there and get some more recognition, and hopefully have a good finish. Daytona is my least statistical track, probably, with not really ever finishing a race here. But, I’ve learned more and more every time I go on a superspeedway, so I’m excited to get on the track later today and then hopefully have a good race on Sunday. It would be good to make it to the checkered flag in a Sprint Cup race here. I’m just looking forward to it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona–Kyle Larson

Chevy SS Power Brings Home Six of the Top 10 Finishing Positions

Sonoma, Calif. (June 28, 2015) – A late race pit stops for tires led to a mad dash to the finish of the 110-lap Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway, the 16th race of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Chevrolet’s Kurt Busch came within 0.532 seconds of earning his third victory of the season in his No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet SS. Busch pitted for fresh tires on the final pit stop with 11 laps remaining. Restarting ninth, Busch did everything he could to catch his younger brother Kyle (Busch) for the win, but ended the day in the runner-up spot. Busch led 43 laps en route to his second-place effort. It is his seventh top-10 finish in 15 races at Sonoma and eighth top 10 finish of the season. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Kurt Busch Leads the Charge for Team Chevy at Sonoma

KURT BUSCH, NO. 41 HAAS AUTOMATION CHEVROLET SS – FINISHED 2ND
WAS THIS A STATEMENT CHAMPIONSHIP-TYPE RUN FOR YOU TODAY?
“Well, yeah you could say that. Gene Haas has given everything to me and I wanted to deliver a win for him. It was an incredible drive all day. The car was fast. I thought we had the right sequence. Kyle (Busch) got a lucky break when that yellow came out and he got onto pit road and there were just too many cars between me and him on some of those restarts. I just didn’t quite get the restarts I needed. But it was a great Haas Automation Chevy. It was fast. We led laps. We qualified second and finished second. But I think we made a statement, yes. The car was great. Tony Gibson (crew chief) and all the guys back at the shop built me a beautiful road course car. I just came up a little shy in qualifying and in the race. Congratulations to my little brother (Kyle). I know this is huge. He still has a long way to go to get him in that Top 30. He’s an incredible driver. I don’t know how many times we’ve finished 1-2, but we’ll see the other Busch brother win today.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Sonoma–Post Race

MARTIN TRUEX, JR., NO. 78 FURNITURE ROW/VISSER PRECISION CHEVROLET SS – Involved in an on-track accident on lap 29

YOU JUST MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO MAKE THE CAR BETTER. WHAT HAPPENED?
“We were going to be okay. It’s just a product of restarts here. When you are in mid-pack, it’s not a good place to be. It’s just really congested. We were a lot faster than a couple of guys around us. You’re trying not to get run over. You’ve got to make moves. Every time I passed the No. 55 (David Ragan), he would just stay on the side of me and not give me three or four inches to get clear, so we can all kind of get going. After the fourth time of doing that, it’s just, we both ran out of room and I guess he turned me on purpose. I ran into the side of him first, so I kind of had it coming. But that was an accident. I thought I gave him enough room there, coming out of the esses, and I felt like he probably just turned me on purpose where it happened and how it happened. But, it’s just a product of the racing here and we’ll go on and do our thing.”

HOW DID THAT DEVELOP?
“Just a Sonoma restart, mid-pack, just a lot of congestion. Cars being desperate trying to get some track position. We were just kind of in the wrong place at the wrong time. I kind of had the No. 55 (David Ragan) passed about four times and every time he just didn’t really give an inch. I hit him down there in Turn 7 on accident and kind of doored him and I think he got pissed off and turned me on purpose. It’s just unfortunate that happened, but that is part of the restarts here and part of the craziness that happens. You have to be up front. We had a decent car. We made some adjustments there and felt like it made a big improvement just didn’t get to show it.”

WHAT HAPPENED OUT THERE?
“We got wrecked bottom line. Definitely a tough day. I felt like we had a decent car all weekend. We were off a little bit that first run, made some adjustments, felt like it helped. When you start around 20th on those restarts it is just a recipe for disaster. I was trying to be aggressive, made some moves. I had a couple of cars passed and then the lane I was in jammed up and the guys I had passed got back by me. You just get frustrated, you lose patience and I got into the No. 55 (David Ragan) doors a little bit in Turn 7 and I guess he didn’t like it and he figured he would just dump me. He probably has one coming, but other than that it’s just part of the restart deal. I hate that I got my guys car tore up.”

HOW AGGRESSIVE HAS THIS RACE BEEN FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE RACE?
“It was fine in the beginning. I started in a decent position. I didn’t make contact with anyone. Got passed a few times, passed a few guys and you get back there in the 20’s and some of those guys’ heads come unscrewed. It is just the way it works here.”
