Line Climbing the Ladder on Friday at Route 66 Raceway

CHICAGO, Ill., July 10, 2015 – Jason Line and his blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro are starting off on a much better foot this weekend in Chicago at the Route 66 NHRA Nationals. One week ago, Line was struggling to break into the top half of the field in Norwalk, but on Friday in Chicago, he was No. 5 when the first two qualifying sessions were in the books. CHICAGO, Ill., July 10, 2015 – The Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros looked strong on the first day of qualifying at the 18th annual Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway, a vast, stadium-style dragstrip located just outside of Chicago. Greg Anderson led the KB Racing team with a set of powerful passes that brought in a slew of bonus marks for the incoming points leader, and the driver of the red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro also left the racetrack on the first day of qualifying with a very valuable treasure – the Route 66 Raceway track record for speed. BRITTANY FORCE TOPS FOR JFR ON FRIDAY IN JOLIET
Joliet, IL – The Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster came to life under the lights tonight at Route 66 Raceway blasting to the provisional No. 2 qualifying spot. Brittany Force, the 2013 rookie of the year, had her hands full on the top end and was pleasantly surprised by the quick outcome which was quickest of the session until the last pair of Top Fuel dragsters went down the track.
“I am very happy and very proud of this Monster Energy Top Fuel team. (Crew chiefs) Todd Smith and Ronnie Thompson told me before the run they were going to push it. We got a good number and we were worried about weather conditions tomorrow,” said Brittany Force, the runner-up at last year’s event. “They were like let’s just get it down there and get into the show. When they came on the radio and told me we ran a 3.74 I was shocked. It was moving around on me at the top end so I wasn’t sure what our ET would be. I am really happy to be No. 2 going into Saturday.” Continue reading John Force Racing–BRITTANY FORCE TOPS FOR JFR ON FRIDAY IN JOLIET

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 AARP MEMBER ADVANTAGES CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Kentucky Speedway and discussed his desire to win at Kentucky Speedway, the new rules package, his outlook for the race this weekend and many other topics. Full Transcript:

TALK ABOUT HOW YOUR CAR IS SO FAR. HOW HAVE THE PRACTICES GONE AND HOW THE NO. 24 CHEVROLET IS OPERATING:
“It was good to get out there and get some laps. I think we all recognize how important it was to do that before the race tomorrow because of this new package and the things we are trying and the unknowns. This is a tricky racetrack. Certainly that is no secret. It is a very challenging racetrack. You take 1000 pounds of downforce off the cars, as well as the reduction in horsepower that we have had all year, but have not run here yet. We need track time. I was glad we were able to get on there today. We would have liked to have had it with the data acquisition on the cars like we planned on having on Wednesday, but we will take whatever we can get. Wood Brothers Racing–For The Wood Brothers And Ryan Blaney, When It Rains, It Floods

For The Wood Brothers And Ryan Blaney, When It Rains, It Floods

July 10, 2015

Eddie Wood, co-owner of the No. 21 Snap-on Ford Fusion, knows that in the end, the statistics always even out. In the case of his family’s Sprint Cup race team in the past two weeks, that’s a bad thing. Since going to a part-time status in 2009, the Wood Brothers; despite not having a provisional starting spot to rely on in the event of a qualifying rainout, have qualified for 90-straight races. Then last week at Daytona International Speedway, weather caused qualifying for the Coke Zero 400 to be cancelled, and that meant the Woods and their driver, Ryan Blaney, missed that race. As if last week wasn’t frustrating enough, now more than ever, the old adage “when it rains it pours” couldn’t be more fitting. On Friday at Kentucky Speedway, more rain caused another cancellation, and the No. 21 Ford Fusion, sporting the colors of sponsor Snap-on Tools for the first time ever, was out of the starting line-up again. Red Horse Racing at Kentucky Speedway

For the 10th race of the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, teams traveled to Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky for Thursday night’s UNOH 225. Final practice and qualifying were both canceled after persistent showers remained in the area throughout the afternoon. Crews were able to dry the track and the field was set by owner points, per the NASCAR Rule Book. With no laps logged this week at the 1.5-mile facility prior to the race, Timothy Peters started from the 10th position and Ben Kennedy began the race in the 14th position. Peters earned a fifth-place result, and Kennedy recorded a 16th-place finish after contact with another vehicle caused race-ending damage. Continue reading Red Horse Racing–UNOH 225

TALK ABOUT RACING AT KENTUCKY THIS WEEKEND WITH THE NEW RULES PACKAGE AND HOW YOU THINK YOUR CAR WILL ADAPT TO THAT
“I was part of the tire test here a few months ago. So, I was somewhat looking forward to coming back because we did get to spend three days here on the track. It will be certainly a little bit different with the rules package, but really, after talking with the team and some of the wind tunnel stuff they’ve done, I don’t expect there to be something crazy different with the set-up or really, it’s just going to be less grip. It will be interesting to see how important tires are going to be. This tire is the same tire we’re going to run with the other, with 1,000 pounds more downforce. I think the wear will be a little bit less. But I don’t know. Until we get to practice, it’s hard to say.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Kentucky–Jamie McMurray
