KYLE LARSON PILOTS CHEVY TO ALL-STAR POLE
Larson earns pole award in first All-Star Outing

CONCORD, N.C. (May 19, 2017) – Flawless execution earned Kyle Larson and the No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS team the pole for Saturday night’s Monster Energy All Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Larson’s first career victory at Michigan International Speedway in August 2016 earned him a spot in the All-Star event lineup. Today’s lap of 143.839 mph was not the quickest combination of the three lap average and pit stop time, but mistakes by other competitors now places him in the pole position for the start of the million-dollar non-points event on Saturday night. April War Wizard News

April was a crazy month for the War Wizard Team. With two extra Monster Jam arena events addedto our schedule. Chattanooga, TN was the first onthe list and the War Wizard left its mark for thefans. Evansville, IN was the final stop for our teamand Monster Jam for 1st quarter. Steve Koehlerfilled in for this event for us and turned the heatup on the old girl. Three shows in 2 days wasintense but extremely fun. From the roll over onFriday night to the front wheelie which ended inthe Wizard on its roof. Evansville was one for thehistory books. And as we roll into the summer tourstay tuned for new things to come from the WarWizard team.

Race Updates
At the Belle Rose NHRA Divisional we went to the third round in the Super Stocker and the final round in the Stocker. It was a rare AA/SA heads up final where we came up short. Interestingly enough, it was our second heads up in Stock at the event. Running two cars gets busy and thankfully our engine builder, Allen Sherman
was on hand to help get the car ready. We did what we could to prepare the car before having to head to the staging lanes to run Super Stock. When we got back to our pits, it looked like a NASCAR pit as we had 5 people working on the car. Thankfully, Brenda did her job on the starting line and won the round, beating her opponent in a big hole shot.

We didn’t have any luck at the Houston National event, loosing first round in
both cars. A nice picture of the Super Stocker was posted on Drag Race Central.
The Dallas Divisional was a break through race for the Super Stocker as we finally
got the tire spin under control. Eliminations brought a 30 degree temperature
change from qualifying. Taking air changes into account the car was dialed well.
However, the car really hooked and came out of the hole like a bullet. Even though
a huge amount of ET/MPH were scrubbed we still broke out more than our opponent. This was the first confirmation we had overcome the Super Stocker tire spin that had been plaguing us. We did
better in Stock, getting to the third round where we met another AA/SA. Brenda had the light and the performance however the car was set up a bit too aggressively with the tire pressure and spun at the launch.
April was a good month and in Stock we are currently #3 in Division 4.

The column featuring Stock Eliminator driver Allison Smyth was published in the April 21, 2017 issue of National Dragster. One additional article has been submitted and two more are already in process. It’s been great to hear how much the racers enjoy the articles and appreciate the publicity for Sportsman drivers.

Hero Card and Pictures
Our new hero car should be ready any day now. You will receive one in the mail. We continue to make updates to our
website and now have both cars on the front page. Included with this Time Slip email is a high resolution picture of each car.

TEAM CHEVY DAY 3 PRACTICE RECAP

There’s something to learn from every practice session on the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in preparation for the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. Even with a steady 30 mph headwind on the frontstretch and stiff crosswind in the turns, Chevrolet drivers benefitted from track time while others concentrated on pit stop practice.

Twenty-one competitors logged 408 laps, which was down significantly from the 2,404 laps recorded by 32 drivers a day earlier, as Chevrolet teams continued to work on race aerodynamic set-ups of the Chevrolet aerokit with V6 2.2-liter Chevrolet engines. Cruz Pedregon Kansas Advance

NHRA® Team Report

NHRA Heartland Nationals – Topeka

Pre-Race Report

The Snap-on Toyota has been going through the rigors of testing prior to the race in Topeka this weekend. Something unique about these test runs is not having Cruz Pedregon, the team’s owner and driver, behind the wheel. With changes made after the Atlanta race, the team took advantage of having another licensed Funny Car driver in the Pedregon family to fill in during the runs. Cruz’s brother Tony, a long-time NHRA driver turned FOX Sports commentator, obliged the team by filling in for the runs and marked a career best 3.97.

“It was important to Aaron (Brooks – crew chief) to try out some of the changes we made before we loaded the car for Kansas, and it worked out well to have Tony available, approved and ready to drive the Snap-on Toyota for us while testing near the shop in Indy. I wouldn’t let just anyone drive my race car,” said Pedregon. “Every run this season we’ve been collecting data, and we’re going into Topeka ready to see the winning results we’ve been working towards.

Crew Chief Aaron Brooks says, “Having your driver 2,000 miles away when you need to test does present a challenge, but not one we couldn’t overcome. Just like with the car, we’ve had our challenges this year, but we’re confident the work we’ve done over the past weeks will pay off.”

Cruz has had four previous Topeka wins and set a track record at Heartland Park in 2012.

On the Side of Cruz’s Car – Topeka

Local Snap-on Franchisee Rick Nichols is this week’s Nitro Franchisee. Rick enjoys being his own boss and says he loves supplying customers with “the best tools and the best service.” He’s a pro stock fan, even doing some of his own Quick 8’s racing in Kansas City and Topeka. He likes Funny Car, too, and spent time getting Cruz’s autograph at the races before. This weekend, Rick will get to be in the pit with Cruz, and it will be HIS name of the side of the Snap-on Toyota.

Hunter-Reay Paces Honda Effort as Indianapolis 500 Practice Continues
• Ryan Hunter-Reay runs fourth overall on warm, windy day of practice
• Fernando Alonso completes field-high 117 laps
• Second of five practice days prior to Indianapolis 500 qualifying

SPEEDWAY, Ind., (May 16, 2017) – Practice continued Tuesday under warm and gusty conditions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Honda drivers and teams focused on preparations for the May 28 Indianapolis 500.

Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay led the way for Honda in Tuesday’s six-hour practice session, posting the fourth-fastest speed in an incident-free day. Teammate Takuma Sato ended the day sixth, with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ Mikhail Aleshin taking the checkers seventh on the speed chart.

Two-time Formula One World Champion and McLaren Honda driver Fernando Alonso recorded the most laps of the 33 driver/car combinations in this year’s field, running 177 laps, just over half a race distance, today. Meanwhile, Dale Coyne Racing’s Ed Jones was fastest of the four rookies, ending the day 15th overall at 222.251 mph.

Practice activities continue through Friday, with qualifying action to set the field of 33 on the historic 2.5-mile oval scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Ed Jones (#19 Dale Coyne Racing Honda) led the rookie field Tuesday in practice: “The day started off quite difficult. There were a few changes to the car that we had to make to adjust to certain things. It took a bit longer than we expected, but once we got up to speed we did a lot of traffic running. I learned a massive amount today and felt really comfortable towards the end when we were able to start passing a few cars. I think the first two days have been solid, as well as they could have gone, and I’m happy with the progress were making.”
