JOHN FORCE RACING TO BE FEATURED ON HBO’S REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL
YORBA LINDA, Calif. (March 22, 2018) — John Force Racing spent four days with the award-winning HBO sports journalism series ‘Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel’ over the past two weeks. The dynamic team, headed by NHRA great John Force, will be featured on the Emmy winning show Tuesday, March 27 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

“Who doesn’t love HBO? I’m excited to have them feature not just my family but our sport. I have to give it to the crew: They really worked hard and gave it the time that it needed,” said Force, the 16-time NHRA Funny Car world champion. “I haven’t seen the show so the proof is in the pudding but I know it’s going to be great. They put four days of filming into it. And I want to thank NHRA for the help they gave getting HBO the footage they needed on track.” Continue reading JOHN FORCE RACING TO BE FEATURED ON HBO’S REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL

Menard Proud To Be Part Of The Home Team At Martinsville

March 21, 2018

When Paul Menard takes the wheel of the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion this weekend at Martinsville Speedway, he’ll make his first appearance in the No. 21 at the track where Glen Wood made the team’s first Cup start back in 1953.

Now, 65 years later, Menard will make career start No. 1516 for the Wood Brothers, NASCAR’s longest continuously operating race team.

That’s something he’s looking forward to. Continue reading Menard Proud To Be Part Of The Home Team At Martinsville

Winning Street Outlaws-No Prep- Great way to start the Season!

First and foremost I want to thank Discovery Channels, Street Outlaws-No Prep show, Gary Macon and Chris Johnsen for making this happen on very short notice . Thank you for what you guys are doing to help progress M otorcycle D rag Racing in front of the 2 2, 000+ race fans and the 3.4 million viewers this show gets every Wednesday. Autographing little smiling kids hats was the icing on the cake .

We got the call two weeks ago Thursday to attend that weekends taping of the S treet O utlaws race at Galot Motor Speedway in NC airing April 18th. Unfortunately both our ProStreet and Grudge CBR1000rr’s were in stages of completion for the Man Cup season opener in Valdosta, GA April 6-8, and NHDRO season opener in Atlanta, GA April 13-15. The crowd liked the bikes enough for the producers to ask Gary and Chris to see if they could get the bikes to the taping of the two hour season Finale this past weekend in Tulsa, OK. This time CJ (Chris) called with a whopping 4 days notice. We took parts from the ProStreet bike to complete the Grudge bike by late Thursday night and were in Tulsa 11 hours later.

Over 22 sportbike teams and 14 V-twin bikes showed up to put on one hell of a show for the crowd. When Frankie and Ryan Hable wheelied mid track at over 120mph and rode it out, the crowd went crazy. Frankie and J amalle B rown put on a great show in the final . Every brand except one showed up but the Stotz Racing-Honda CBR1000rr took home the Gold! We used all of our past Championship experience from KOTS (King Of The Street) (also No Prep) to help us dominate the S treet O utlaws -No Prep season Finale.

Special thanks to Kurt Sikora of Sikora Precision for helping us make this happen in very short notice. All of Chi-town helped in many ways. Craig and Wally from F lowtech , Anthony at Fornarelli Racing, Doug at Legend Racing, Brian at Win Racing. The Discovery Channel has a GIANT social media program with many millions of followers. This show will air for many months in reruns also. Hopefully this is the start of some big things for Motorcycle Drag Racing and the Stotz Racing-Honda team.

Dominic Scelzi Survives Stockton to Produce Second Straight Top 10

Inside Line Promotions – STOCKTON, Calif. (March 19, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi recorded a seventh-place result last Saturday during the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout at Stockton Dirt Track.

It gives Scelzi and his family owned, Roth Motorsports sponsored team back-to-back top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series for the second time in Scelzi’s career.

“Every time you can move forward and run inside the top 10 with the World of Outlaws it’s an accomplishment,” he said. “When we timed in I think I made five or six qualifying laps. The red light was put on on accident. We got going again and then a push truck came out. I didn’t get a regular qualifying session, which I think hurt us. I think a couple of those laps that didn’t count were really good laps.” Continue reading Dominic Scelzi Survives Stockton to Produce Second Straight Top 10

Justin Gordon enters 2018 F4 U.S. Championship

INDIANAPOLIS (March 19, 2018)- Following in the footsteps of legends like Roger Penske, Dorsey Schroeder and Chip Ganassi, Justin Gordon of West Palm Beach, Florida, will take the skills he developed in the Sports Car Club of America to the next level in his motorsport career. The SCCA National Championship Runoffs finalist confirmed his entry for the third season of SCCA Pro Racing’s Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda, running independently under Justin Gordon Racing.

“I’m ecstatic to compete in F4 this year,” Gordon said. “I feel that this is the best place for young, talented drivers, like myself, to showcase their skills, especially with the car count almost doubling every year. We are confident in the team that we have compiled, and I would like to give a special thank you to John Zuccarelli who has been my supporter and mentor throughout my racing career.”

The 18-year-old club-racing standout placed second in the Formula Enterprise class during the SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2017 and went on to win the American Road Race Championship in a SCCA Enterprises FE. Early on in his formula club racing career, Gordon captured multiple podiums and was voted Rookie Driver of the Year for the Southeast SCCA Division in 2016.

“SCCA club racing is a perfect training ground through which to enter pro racing,” SCCA Pro Racing Vice President Steve Oseth said. “F4 U.S. has benefited greatly with contributions from club racing standouts like Jim Goughary Jr., Steve Bamford, Austin McCusker and Jacob Loomis.”

Gordon marks the 27th early entry for the 2018 F4 U.S. season. During its 20-race 2017 season, F4 U.S. averaged 33 cars per event and is anticipating even more growth in the upcoming season.

Gordon and the rest of the F4 U.S. field will make its 2018 debut at Virginia International Raceway April 27-29. For more information on the championship, schedule and entries visit F4USChampionship.com.

FORD MUSTANG GT4 WINS CONSECUTIVE SEBRING RACES

FORD MUSTANG GT4 WINS CONSECUTIVE SEBRING RACES

SEBRING, FL, March 19, 2018 – The No. 60 KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 won their second consecutive Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Grand Sport race title at Sebring International Raceway on Friday in the Alan Jay Automotive Network 120.

Drivers Nate Stacy and Kyle Marcelli picked up the teams fourth win and their first as co-drivers in the No. 60. Following in teammates, Scott Maxwell and Jade Buford’s footsteps who won the esteemed race in 2017. This marked Ford’s 45th victory in the Grand Sport (GS) class.

“Congratulations to KohR Motorsports,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “To win at Sebring is special and to win two years in a row is a tribute to the team’s hard work and dedication.”

The modified two-hour sprint race allowed for an aggressive strategy call from the pit box, going to a one stop race plan with the 5.2L Mustang V8 engine to complete the 175.78-mile race. As the race unfolded, it would be the one stop call that would allow the No. 60 to inherit the lead and then it came down to managing the Continental tires for the last 20 laps.

“It feels great,” Stacy said. “The team worked flawlessly. We had a really good strategy, I’m really glad it worked out. It was kind of a gutsy move, but it worked out in the end. With these Continental Tires, it was just crazy good at the beginning. I had a bit of a push toward the end there, but it got hot and sticky. It was great all around.”

Six Ford Mustang GT4s started in a field of 37 cars, including KohR Motorsports sister car No. 59 with drivers Jack Roush Jr. and Joey Atterbury. They finished the race P6 followed by AWA Ford Mustang No. 80 in P14.

This weekend’s results provides great momentum for the Ford Mustang program as they head to Mid-Ohio for the first time on May 5th. Reference www.roushyates.com for the full schedule.

‘RUN WHAT YA BRUNG’ – Public Track Day

Santa Pod Raceway

Sat.17 March 2018

The two highest bidders in an online charity auction became the first drivers to traverse Santa Pod Raceway’s brand new, all-concrete racetrack on Saturday. The auction, hosted on Ebay, raised funds to benefit two regional air ambulance organisations, The Air Ambulance Service (East Midlands) and Magpas Air Ambulance (East Anglia).

Each of the dragstrip’s two lanes comprised a separate auction lot, and members of the public were invited to post bids for either lane. Car enthusiast Jordan Bradford was the highest bidder for the right, Autoglym-sponsored lane and drove his immaculate Mitsubishi Evo 8 all the way from Sevenoaks in Kent, with his mother in the passenger seat. “I wasn’t going to let this weather beat me,” he said, as an icy overnight front revived mid-winter conditions across the country. Tire Issues Spoil Strong Run For Menard at Auto Club Speedway

March 19, 2018

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Menards/FVP team overcame one cut tire in Sunday’s Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., but couldn’t completely overcome two and wound up with a 19th-place finish.

Menard started 14th but soon raced his way into the top 10 and ran around 10th for most of the first 30 laps of the race. Soon after that, some damage to the right-rear of the No. 21 Fusion put Menard and the team in catch-up mode. But it wound up being a problem with the other side of the car with 11 laps remaining in Stage Two that presented the bigger challenge. “I was actually thinking about how the traffic would be about 1 ‘o clock to go home. We’ve been struggling pretty bad with this car. KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 DC SOLAR CAMARO ZL1 – Finished 2nd:
YOU ENDED UP BRINGING IT HOME SECOND BUT YOU HEARD KEVIN HARVICK SAY HE TOOK THE BLAME FOR THE INCIDENT, HOW DID THE TWO OF YOU COME TOGETHER EARLIER IN THE RACE?
“We were racing really hard and I was better than him in three and four and he was better than me in one and two. I would side draft him down the front stretch and he would side draft me down the back stretch and I don’t know if he was just coming down to side draft me or what but we made contact and it spun his car to the right. So, you never want to make contact with anybody but all in all it was a good day for our DC Solar Chevrolet team. We had a lot of weird issues like vibrations and stuff that made us have to restart in the back and we would have to go back forward. It always seemed like we would get to third or fourth and kind of stall out there. But it was still a very good day. The 78 was really good and I think the 4 was probably the best car again although he didn’t get to race a whole lot. We are right there and we just have to continue to work hard. Hats off to everybody at our race shop because they have done a great job of getting our Camaros up to speed quickly. So I am having fun, but I would like to be one spot better though.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Auto Club Speedway–Post Race

• Mechanical issues end strong Team Penske Acura prototype effort
• Michael Shank Racing leads Acura NSX GT3 performance
• HART recovers from late-race damage; CJ Wilson Racing makes NSX GT3 debut

SEBRING, Fla. (March 17, 2018) – Fielding a six-car effort in two separate IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship classes – the largest for any manufacturer in the 42-car starting field – Acura Motorsports contended for victory in both the headline Prototype and supporting GTD divisions during Saturday’s 66th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, second round of the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Michael Shank Racing led the way for Acura Motorsports, with both of the team’s NSX GT3s contending for the GTD class victory and leading through the first nine hours of the endurance racing classic. Acura Team Penske gave the new ARX-05 prototype another strong outing, leading several times, but separate mechanical failures ended the run for both machines just past the halfway mark in the 12-hour contest. The Honda of America Racing Team also frequently ran in the top five of GTD and the CJ Wilson Racing team made its NSX GT3 debut at Sebring.

Acura Team Penske
Both Ricky Taylor, starting driver for the #7 Penske Acura ARX-05 prototype, and co-driver Helio Castroneves led during the early hours. Along with third driver Graham Rahal, the Acura remained in the top three until the car suddenly lost oil pressure just as the race reached its six-hour midpoint.
