Dominic Scelzi Tackling Peter Murphy Classic in Two Different Rides

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (May 15, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi is climbing aboard a famed Roth Motorsports No. 83 sprint car this Friday during the opening night of the Peter Murphy Classic.

The Sprint Car Challenge Tour event at the bullring in Tulare, Calif., will mark Scelzi’s first time ever competing with Roth Motorsports, which has supported his family team for many years.

“I’m beyond excited,” he said. “It’s a childhood dream. I grew up in the Central Valley. It’s one of the most famous cars. I got my first laps ever in it in 2011 when we rented the track and I did some testing for them a couple of years ago when Kyle (Hirst) was in Australia. I’m so thankful for the opportunity. I can’t thank Dennis and Teresa Roth and Todd Ventura enough.”

Scelzi will return to his family owned No. 41 on Saturday for the event finale with the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series.

“We have a ridiculous amount of speed,” he said. “Since the Outlaws have left the West Coast we’ve only had one finish outside the top 10 and only two outside the top five. We have a lot of confidence.”

Scelzi earned a fourth-place finish during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series show at Thunderbowl Raceway earlier this season. It gives him at least one top-five result at the track during five of the last six seasons.

“We were high point guy at Trophy Cup last season and coming off a top five with the Outlaws in March I have nothing but high expectations for this weekend,” he said.

Scelzi is off to a career-best start during the first few months of the season with two wins, eight top fives and 10 top 10s in 14 races.
