Scelzi’s Summer in the Midwest Begins This Weekend at Knoxville Raceway and 34 Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (June 5, 2017) – Dominic Scelzi is embarking upon a three-month trip to race throughout the Midwest this summer.

The Roth Motorsports backed, family owned team will compete this Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and Sunday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

“I’m excited to be able to return to tracks again,” he said. “The biggest thing when you leave a place like California you’re leaving a certain type of racing. About 99 percent of the time you have to be on the wick, banging the holes. Now we’re going to bigger tracks. You have to understand how to conserve tires, how to use your wing. It’s like going to school for math and going to school for English.”

Scelzi got an education last summer when he spent a couple of months racing in the middle of the country. Now he gets to return to tracks with some experience. Scelzi said there are approximately three dozen tracks he will compete at this summer and half he will be returning to with laps last year.

That begins this Friday and Saturday at the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World,’ where Scelzi was able to race a couple of times last summer.

“Brandon, Scotty and I have never been to Knoxville together,” he said. “Probably three quarters of the starters on Saturday night will be in the main event at the Knoxville Nationals later this summer. I think it’s a good measuring stick for our team and where we need to be.”

Scelzi will wrap up the weekend on Sunday by making his debut at 34 Raceway.

“It’s going to be a good race,” he said. “There will be tons of really good cars. It will be as tough as an Outlaws show. It’ll be cool to go to a new place and see how we stack up.”
