3-FOR-3 FORD SHELBY GT350R-C!

ELKHART LAKE, WISC. August 8th, 2016 – The No. 15 of Billy Johnson and Scott Maxwell of Multimatic Motorsports took home their third win in a row and their fourth overall for the year. This win marked their first win at Road America in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series and secured their position on top of the leader board in the Grand Sport (GS) class with 228 points.

The race at Road America came down to the last few laps with the No. 15 in second place, but their position would quickly change in the last lap as the race leader ran out of fuel. The No. 15 Multimatic Motorsports car with Billy Johnson driving, did an outstanding job of managing his fuel and tires to take the lead and checkered flag.

“The Ford Shelby GT350R-C is just a fantastic car,” said Billy Johnson. “I love driving it. Both Scott and I worked on the development on the street and race car and we’re both very privileged to be racing it. It’s a hell of a race car and pretty good at drifting, too.”

This was the team’s fourth win of the year following up on their wins at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Lime Rock and the first race of the year at Daytona. The No. 15 Ford Mustang also achieved their third pole of the season at the hands of Maxwell, marking his 14th career pole and series record.

The Ford GT also had success by taking home their third pole of the season and the first for the No. 66 of Joey Hand and Dirk Müeller. The first for this duo since achieving the pole at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the FIA WEC series. The Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team ran a strong race. The No. 67 finished P2 and No. 66 P9. This marked Roush Yates Engines’ twelfth overall pole of the season.

“Congratulations to Multimatic Motorsports, Billy, and Scott for the pole and win!” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines.” “Three wins in a row is a testament to this team and its drivers.” You need a great team, car, and engine to achieve podium status.”

With only three races left to secure the 2016 championships, Ford Performance teams are setting their eyes on Virginia for the Oak Tree Grand Prix at VIR in Alton, VA on August, 28th.
