Summit Racing–Anderson getting right back to business at Midwest Nationals

Anderson getting right back to business at Midwest Nationals

Mooresville, N.C., September 23, 2015 – Greg Anderson and the Summit Racing team is heading to the St. Louis area with a vicious fire roaring in their collective hearts. Just a handful of rounds out of first place, Anderson and the KB Racing crew are ready to win again at this weekend’s 4th annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals.

Anderson made up a bunch of points in qualifying last weekend in Charlotte en route to the 78th No. 1 qualifier of his career in the ultra-competitive Pro Stock category, and on Sunday he lost a close one in the second round. But this weekend, he won’t be satisfied without a celebration in the winner’s circle. A final round would be familiar territory for Anderson at Gateway Motorsports Park, a racetrack where he was the 2004 winner. In all, the driver of the red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro has visited four final rounds at the racetrack under the St. Louis Arch, and he has three No. 1 at the unique facility.

“We typically do really well there, no question,” said Anderson, a 78-time Pro Stock winner. “I’ve always liked Gateway Motorsports Park; it’s a good racetrack where we’ve always run well, and we have a lot of great memories there. It’s one you look forward to every year.”

This year, the Midwest Nationals mark the second race of six in NHRA’s 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship.

“We’ve got as good of a chance as anyone to win this championship, and we just have to be error-free,” said Anderson. “I had an error last weekend in Charlotte, so this weekend I have to be absolutely error-free, without a doubt. If we can do that, we’ll get right back in this thing.

“Last weekend was a tough loss for us, but that’s drag racing. You’re going to lose more than you’re going to win, unfortunately, and it stings every time. But you bounce back. We’ve done that. We’re going to St. Louis with guns blazing.”
