Giovanni Scelzi Builds Momentum with Runner-Up Result at Plaza Park

Inside Line Promotions – VISALIA, Calif. (Aug. 31, 2015) – Giovanni Scelzi continued his recent string of success last Friday at Plaza Park Raceway where he registered a runner-up result.

The second-place finish marked his fourth podium in the last five micro sprint races and gives his team a boost of momentum entering the Summer Clash this Friday and Saturday at Plaza Park Raceway.

“I don’t know where we could have been much better,” he said. “Most nights you can say you would have been a little better here or there, but I really can’t think of an area to improve from last Friday.”

Scelzi kicked off the night by qualifying ninth quickest, which put him on the pole of a heat race. He led the distance of the heat to lock himself into the 10th starting position for the main event.

“The track was slick all the way to the wall,” he said. “Everybody was up on the top. I tried to run the bottom the first couple of laps and it wasn’t quite good enough. So we stayed up top and we steadily picked off a car every lap or two.”

Scelzi climbed into third place before a late-race caution bunched the field together with only a couple of laps remaining.

“I got up to second coming to the white flag, but just ran out of time to get to the leader,” he said. “I was the best car on the track because I could pass anyone anywhere. If the race was five more laps we could have won.”

Scelzi’s second-place result was his 11th top five of the season.

“This car is handling unbelievably good,” he said. “I want to thank Jeff Gardner with KW Suspensions, who did a great job with my shocks. They couldn’t have been any better.”
