RY45 Series Wins Again: Durham Racing Engines Powers Scott Bloomquist Two Wins in Two Weeks

Mooresville, NC. August 31, 2015 – Durham Racing Engines powered Scott Bloomquist to his third and fourth Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) victories of 2015 at Lawrenceburg Speedway and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Bloomquist has finished in the top 2 in six of the last 7 LOLMDS races and earned $72,000 in four wins.

Bloomquist came into the Pittsburgher 100 weekend with momentum on his side winning the weekend before and finishing 2nd or better in five of the last six LOLMDS races. It didn’t take long for him to show how fast his RY45 powered FORD was by setting the overall fast time of the night with a lap of 18.376. He would then lead every lap in the heat race for the win, putting himself on the pole for the A-Main.

At the start of the A-Main, Bloomquist took the lead going into turn 1 but was passed for the lead going down the backstretch. Conserving tires on the ultra-fast and slick half mile was the plan as he fell back to fourth in the early stages of the race.

As the race progressed, Bloomquist would make his way back to the front searching for the fastest groove on the track while passing high and low. By lap 40, he was back up to second and caught the leader on lap 75. Bloomquist would race door to door with the leader until lap 85 when he made a power move to the inside and slid in-front of the leader. He would go on to lead the final 15 laps for the $20,000 victory.

“The key was staying in tow and watching everyone else,” said Bloomquist, “Being able to gauge other competitors and move around the track was the reason we were able to eventually get around him. Our Andy Durham Racing Engines was great as well.”

“The car was really good tonight,” said Bloomquist “Our Andy Durham Engine was awesome, just as smooth as can be. This place is like the Talladega of dirt, it’s big and it’s fast.”

Mooresville, NC. August 22, 2015: Bloomquist started off the night at Lawrenceburg Speedway by setting the overall fast time with a lap of 13.317 seconds, his fourth fast lap pole time of 2015 with the series. He then won his eighth heat race of the year, putting him on the outside pole for the A-Main.

Bloomquist would be on the rear bumper of race leader Steve Francis during the early stages of the race while defending his position from fellow Durham Racing Engines drivers Earl Pearson, Jr. and Jared Landers. At one point, Durham Racing Engines had cars running second, third and fifth on the high banked, half mile speedway.

A caution on lap 14 would slow the field, on the restart, Bloomquist would get under the race leader Francis and the two would battle side by side for the next three laps until Bloomquist made the pass. Three more cautions would wave but Bloomquist proved to be the class of the field, leading a race high 33 laps winning the $10,000 A-Main.

Bloomquist became the first five-time winner of the Pittsburger 100, he won the first Pittsburger 100 in 1989. He has led a total of 162 laps in 2015 with the LOLMDS and has four wins on the season. In the last two weeks, Bloomquist has set fast time both nights, won both heat races and both A-Mains earning him $30,000 in two weeks.

“It is very exciting to have the success we are having this year,” said Durham, “Scott has been racing very well the last couple months, and all of our drivers are racing well. Scott is second in points and Earl is fourth.”

Durham Racing Engines captured the Comp Cams Engine Builder of the Race Award for winning the feature at both events. Durham leads the Comp Cams Engine Builder of the Year point’s standings. Bloomquist has 15 Top-5 finishes with the LOLMDS in 2015.
