Line Charged Up, Ready to Fight for Summit Racing Southern Nationals Title

MOORESVILLE, N.C., May 13, 2015 – This weekend’s 35th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals is a race that Jason Line has been looking forward to. The driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is eager to stand out amongst his peers – and get the points lead back in his possession – and there is no better place to accomplish this goal than at one of his sponsor’s main events.

“As a driver and as a team, there are just certain places that suit your set-up,” said Line. “For Team Summit, Atlanta Dragway has been one of those racetracks, and that makes it a lot of fun to go back there each year. We’ve spent these last two weeks working very hard, and the KB Racing team had a pretty successful test session. I’m very excited about all of the KB Racing cars – including the Chevrolet Camaros driven by Vincent Nobile and Bo Butner – but I’m particularly excited about our two Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros.”

Line has seen the inside of the winner’s circle at Atlanta Dragway once before and has been a finalist there four times. Three of his four final round competitions at the Southern Nationals have been battles for the title next to none other than his Summit Racing teammate, Greg Anderson – a four-time Atlanta winner and nine-time finalist there in the Peach State.

Heading into Atlanta, the Minnesota-native has already been a force to be reckoned with this season, particularly during qualifying. Line has started from the No. 2 spot or better at all but one race this year, and he comes to Atlanta and the Summit Racing Southern Nationals off of back-to-back low qualifier awards earned in Las Vegas and Houston. With one win in two final rounds already on his scorecard just seven races in, Line is a mere 15 points out of first place.

“The last few races, I just haven’t driven as well as I should have,” said Line. “It’s as simple as that, but I’m going to Atlanta to win. That’s what I’m going for. I’m going there to be low qualifier and win the race, and I feel that we certainly have a good opportunity to do that. My Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro has been really fast, and even though I’ve stumbled a little bit on raceday, I feel really good going into this weekend. Nothing lasts forever, whether it’s bad or good, and there is no time like the present to get back up there. We’ve had a couple of weeks off of racing and a good chance to work on some things, and Team Summit is rejuvenated and ready.”

As a warm-up to what they intend will be a very successful weekend, Line and Anderson will have the honor of attending a once-a-year celebration honoring past NHRA champions, the NHRA Mello Yello Partnership Dinner at Atlanta’s World of Coca-Cola. The event is slated to take place Thursday before the Summit Racing Southern Nationals.

“It’s a really nice, fun thing to do,” said Line. “I say this every year but it’s true – no matter how bad things are going for you, getting to go to the champion’s dinner at Atlanta’s World of Coca-Cola reminds you of a time when you were actually pretty good at what you do. It’s something we look forward to every year, and this year is no exception.”
