Past Houston Results Fuel Points Leader Line Heading into SpringNationals

MOORESVILLE, N.C., April 22, 2015 – Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Jason Line has already been to two final rounds in 2015 and has scored one win for the KB Racing team. Without a doubt, he’ll be looking to raise that number at this weekend’s 28th annual NHRA SpringNationals at Houston’s Royal Purple Raceway. Heading into the event, the driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro will be aiming to protect the points lead that he took over two races ago in Charlotte. After qualifying in the No. 1 spot less than two weeks ago at the Summit Racing-sponsored event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Line knows he is fully equipped to get the job done.

On the off-weekend between the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas and the upcoming SpringNationals, Line and teammate Greg Anderson traveled south for the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The event included an expansive car show including the BIGFOOT® Monster Trucks, an Autocross competition, and a wide variety of activities for the whole family.

“They had everything from lawn mower racing to a burnout contest and speedway cruise – the Summit Racing folks really know how to put on a show. The whole weekend was really cool, and it was a great opportunity to meet a lot of folks who cheer us on every weekend. We want to thank them for having us down for the Motorama, and for all they do for us,” said Line.

After returning home from Atlanta, Line and Anderson rejoined the KB Racing team in their efforts to prepare their fast Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros for the next event on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour. Line relishes a return to Houston; the first final round of his career actually took place at the Texas facility in 2004, his first season as a full-time NHRA Pro Stock competitor. In the other lane for that pivotal moment? Anderson.

“I remember that day well,” said Line, who has now been part of 23 all-Team Summit final rounds. “It was exciting, and I think it was the first time I ever actually relaxed racing a Pro Stock car because I knew that our Summit Racing team had won, no matter the outcome. I remember pretty clearly that the car went left and I ended up having to lift – Greg won the race, but it was still a really fun moment for me.”

Adding to the excitement of returning to the site of his first final, Line is eager to once again race on Sunday during a live telecast on ESPN2. In 2013, Line won the SpringNationals with a victory over Shane Gray in a live telecast – the first scheduled for ESPN2 and NHRA that included both semifinal and final rounds.

“I think the live element is a big deal, and people are more likely to tune in and watch,” said Line. “It’s really cool to win when the race is on live TV. The first thing I realized was how many people were watching – all kinds of people were sending me messages and calling. It was really a lot of fun, and it’s certainly an experience I’d like to have again. That’s definitely possible with the car I have right now. Team Summit has a good chance of winning any race, and that’s a great feeling.”
