Line brings a reliable racecar to the plate on Sunday in St. Louis

Madison, Ill., September 27, 2014 – With raceday just around the corner at Gateway Motorsports Park, Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Jason Line is eager for the opportunity to protect the points lead that he has held since winning the Brainerd event just a few weeks ago. Line entered the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals No. 1 in the Pro Stock standings and means to keep hold of the top spot as the third race of the Countdown to the Championship concludes in the shadow of the arch of St. Louis.

Line clocked a 6.549-second pass at 211.69 mph in the first session and improved to a 6.529, 212.19 on the first day of the event. On Saturday, Line raced to a 6.546 at 212.39 in the first session of the day and closed out qualifying with his best run of the weekend, a 6.522 at 212.29. He will start from the No. 3 position and race young Aaron Stanfield, a rookie competitor who kicked off his career at the last race of the regular season, the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. Stanfield’s father is Pro Stock racer Greg Stanfield, a longtime competitor who has been absent from the field in recent times.

“We’ve made some good runs here this weekend with our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, and we have a very good car for tomorrow,” said Line. “The last run was a good way to end qualifying for us, and we’re looking forward to Sunday. I get to race Aaron Stanfield, and his dad was a heck of a good racer. Aaron is going to follow in his footsteps, it looks like, and he obviously has a lot of talent. It looks like he’s been driving the car forever, so it should be a good race.”

On Sunday, Line – who served in the United States Air Force – will bring his blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro to the starting line with special adornment: registered non profit Hot Rods for Heroes provided tribute decals honoring 22 fallen heroes of the United States Air Force, each of whom were part of the elite Pararescue jumpers and Combat Controllers of the United States Air Force and had lost their lives since 9/11.

Sunday is Gold Star Mother’s Day, a day observed in the United States on the last Sunday of September each year to recognize and honor those who have lost a son or daughter serving in the United States Armed Forces.

“It’s an honor to be asked to carry these decals on our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros this weekend,” said Line. “It would be very special to celebrate in the winner’s circle on Sunday.

“I have a good car. I just have to do a good job of driving – and we’ll certainly have a chance to win the race
