Summit Racing–Anderson on the right path at Gateway Motorsports Park

Anderson on the right path at Gateway Motorsports Park

Madison, Ill., September 27, 2014 – Greg Anderson and the white Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro are gearing up for a first-round match with a young gun on Sunday in St. Louis, and Anderson is ready. Starting ninth at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals, Anderson will take on Jonathan Gray in the first round, and he has, perhaps, a bit of a score to settle.

His opponent in the opening round will be the driver who took over the No. 10 spot and eliminated Anderson from the Countdown to the Championship for the first time in his career.

“Thankfully, today was a lot better than yesterday, and we’re on a good path,” said Anderson. “We’re ready to take on whatever tomorrow has to offer, starting with that first round. If there is a pattern emerging here this weekend, hopefully we’ll be even better on the racetrack than we were today.”

In the first round of qualifying, Anderson clocked a 6.579-second pass at 210.60 mph and closed out the first day on a 6.617, 208.46. The initial runs were a bit disappointing for Anderson and his dedicated KB Racing crew, but on Saturday, Anderson and the Summit Racing Camaro were swift. He improved to a 6.548 at 211.89 to jump up three positions, and he made his best run of the weekend in the final session as he raced to a 6.542 at a powerful 212.13 mph.

“Today was fairly smooth,” said Anderson. “The engines held up very well, and we definitely made gains with this car. It got better, and we just have to keep digging. We know we can be fast, and we’re in the hunt. We’re in the game, and we certainly have a shot tomorrow. So we’ll go to battle and find a little more performance in the car. I’m going out there with the plan to drive great and find our way to the winner’s circle.”
