World of Outlaws–Sammy Swindell and Joey Saldana Set Quick Times for Bad Boy Buggies World Finals

Sammy Swindell and Joey Saldana Set Quick Times for Bad Boy Buggies World Finals
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action tomorrow night at the Dirt Track at Charlotte
CONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 5, 2015 – Sammy Swindell and Joey Saldana kicked off the first night of the Bad Boy Buggies World Finals on Thursday by taking the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series qualifying quick times.

Against a 58-car field, the biggest the event has ever seen, Swindell scored his third quick time of 2015 in the qualifying session that set the field for Friday night. The three-time series champion had a fast lap of 12.506 seconds. Swindell said qualifying up front was critical heading into tomorrow night.

“It makes it a lot easier to get locked into the dash and get that good spot to start in the A main,” said Swindell, who drives the No. 1 Big Game Tree Stands car for CJB Motorsports.

In the second qualifying session which set the field for Saturday, Saldana, the season’s leading qualifier, picked up his 17th quick time of 2015 with a lap of 12.904 seconds. Saldana, who qualified his No. 71m Motter Equipment car third in the earlier session, said it helped to go out later the second time.

Going into Friday and Saturday, Saldana said the qualifying runs give him a lot of confidence.

“We’ve had fast cars all year – we just need to finish it off,” Saldana said. “We’ve done it a few times but not enough. Hopefully we can do it again this weekend. It’s a great venue to race at and a lot people get to see us that don’t normally get to see us. I’ve been lucky enough to win here a couple of times… Hopefully we can do that in the next few days.”

Wood Brothers Racing–Snap-on Ford Team Looking For Big Finish At Texas

Snap-on Ford Team Looking For Big Finish At Texas

November 2, 2015

Ryan Blaney, his crew chief Jeremy Bullins and the rest of the crew of the No. 21 Snap-on Ford Fusion are headed to Texas Motor Speedway hoping to build on strong runs in their last three races in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series.

In the month of October, Blaney, Bullins and the Wood Brothers team posted finishes of 14th at Charlotte Motor Speedway, 7th at the Kansas Speedway and were running 3rd at Talladega Superspeedway when an engine failure ended their run prematurely.

Now it’s on to Texas, where in April, Blaney started 13th and ran among the leaders before an engine issue ended his race. He and Bullins have prior sucess at the Texas track in the Xfinity Series, where they have two top-10 finishes, including a runner-up run in 2012 in a Ford Mustang for Team Penske, which now has a technical alliance with the No. 21 Snap-on team.

Based on their brief history in Texas, both Blaney and Bullins are expecting to be front-runners in the AAA Texas 500.

“We’re hoping to keep our good momentum going on the mile-and-a-half race tracks,” Blaney said. “Charlotte and Kansas were good to us, and earlier this year Texas was fairly good to us until we had problems.”

“I’m looking forward to this weekend. We’ve really upped our mile-and-a-half program. I’m excited to go back to Texas.”

Bullins makes no secret of his goals for Texas, and for all the other races the Snap-on team runs.

“As long as I’ve been doing this, no matter what team I’ve been on, we leave the shop with the mindset that we’re going to the track to win,” he said. “Wherever we finish after that was our best effort.”

Lights of Las Vegas Shine Brightly on Casey Currie and His 5 SEMA Vehicles

Lights of Las Vegas Shine Brightly on Casey Currie and His 5 SEMA Vehicles
CORONA, California (Nov 2, 2015) – SEMA week is here and Casey Currie has a busy schedule in front of him. Between his 5 vehicles in various booths around the show and participating in the Battle of the Builders competition, and being selected as one of the judges for the Transamerican “Life is Better Off-Road” Award, Casey is once again proving how influential he is in the industry.

The automotive industry is abuzz with all the amazing talent, vehicles and ideas that are on their way to Las Vegas and Casey will be showing 5 vehicles that will capture the attention and minds of attendees all around the show. He will have two of his Jeeps – the JKRK featured in multiple magazines, and the just-built 2-Door 4600 Stock-Class King of the Hammers Competition JK Jeep – be judged for the Battle of the Builders competition. You can see the JKRK in the BF Goodrich outside booth (#62001), and the 2-Door Race JK in the Dana Spicer booth in the Upper South Hall (#36179). On Friday, November 6, Casey’s two vehicles will be going up against some of the other biggest names in the automotive industry.

In addition to the two Jeeps entered into the Battle of the Builders, Casey will have 3 more vehicles in display areas around the SEMA Show. He has teamed up with companies such as Magnaflow, Eibach and Dana Spicer to show how their products and his skills can create amazing vehicles. Outside the main halls you will find Currie’s matte gray Magpul JK in the Magnaflow booth (#61028), and the Ultimate Dana 60 4-door JK. Inside the Central Hall, his King of the Hammers Race Jeep will be featured in the Eibach display (booth #23531).

Casey’s presence at SEMA goes far beyond the Jeeps he has built. As one of the most respected fabricators, designers and competitors in the off-road industry, he was selected by Transamerican to be one of the prestigious judges for the “Life is Better Off-Road” Award. He will be joined by fellow judges Shannon Campbell, Brian Deegan, Rick Geiser, Sean P. Holman and Craig Perronne as they decide who has built and best presented the most impressive off-road vehicle at this year’s SEMA show. Casey, whose family has been in the off-road industry for over 50 years, brings a unique perspective from both the competition and off road lifestyle sides of the industry and will be a valuable voice in the competition.

Anderson disappointed by Las Vegas outcome, on to Pomona to finish with a bang Summit Racing–

Anderson disappointed by Las Vegas outcome, on to Pomona to finish with a bang

LAS VEGAS, Nev., November 1, 2015 – Greg Anderson came into the 15th annual NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a longshot on his mind. The driver of the red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro had put together his best season as-of-late, and he really, really wanted a fifth NHRA Pro Stock championship. Sunday in Las Vegas, however, the cards did not come up in his favor. Anderson leaves Sin City No. 2 in the Pro Stock points, the highest position still undetermined as the championship battle is over.

Anderson qualified his KB Racing-powered Camaro in the No. 2 position, his best since three consecutive starts from the pole in Indianapolis, Charlotte and St. Louis. On Sunday morning in Las Vegas, he drew Matt Hartford and made the second-quickest pass of the round in the defeat of his challenger, 6.598, 209.14 to 6.676, 207.53.

The second round, however, is where the course of the season was decided. Anderson made a valiant effort with his .026-second reaction time to Vincent Nobile’s .036, but his 6.630, 209.04 was not quite enough to hold off a 6.615, 208.75.

“There were definitely some positives this weekend,” said Anderson. “I did a better job of driving the racecar than I have lately, so we’re making gains on that. We made a couple of decent runs this weekend with my Summit Racing Chevy, we just didn’t make enough of them. We lost our consistency a little bit, and we missed the set-up second round and it cost us.

“But we’re not going to complain about it. I’ve dropped the ball at the last several races, and the bottom line is that we win as a team and we lose as a team. All we can do is pick our heads up, go to the next race, and finish with a bang. We’re so close to being excellent, but you have to put it all together in this class. You can’t have a hiccup – not even a minor one.”

Line leaving Las Vegas with vision set on a strong finish to 2015 season

LAS VEGAS, Nev., November 1, 2015 – Jason Line came to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the 15th annual NHRA Nationals intent on capitalizing on previous success at one of the Summit Racing team’s most favored facilities. During qualifying, the driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro stayed focused and ramped up the power to qualify in the No. 4 position, but on Sunday a single round win was well below expectations. For Line, this only means that it’s time to get back up, shake off the dust, and prepare for another round of battle as the 2015 season draws to a conclusion. Currie Brings Home the 2015 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Season at Lake Elsinore

Currie Brings Home the 2015 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Season at Lake Elsinore
CORONA, California (October 26, 2015) – It was the final weekend of the 2015 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park and Casey Currie finished the season with two more consistent, strong, fast finishes. In all, Casey fished out the season 5th in points in the largest Pro Class of 35 trucks, with multiple podium finishes and Fast Lap awards.

As Casey’s home track, he was excited to finish the season at Lake Elsinore with his fans in the crowd waving the Casey Currie #2 green foam fingers to show their support. It was busy racing with 25 trucks in the field, but he managed to stay out of any incidents and finish the races with some of the fastest laps of the weekend. He has had a fast truck all season and this weekend was no different. Now, with a still intact truck, Casey is going into the offseason ahead of the game.

After the race weekend, Currie commented, “I can’t believe the 2015 season is already over. All my partners and sponsors have done so much for Currie Motorsports and it shows with how consistently fast we ran all year. And…we still have a great truck that is ready for next season! I will be making some changes this off season and there is still a lot to accomplish to get ready for all the events we are doing next year, but I have the team and sponsors that make it all possible.”

In addition to competing for the 2016 championship in the largest Pro Class in all of short course racing, Casey has more events than ever in his 2016 schedule. Between the King of the Hammers, Monster Jam, LOORRS, Moab Easter Jeep Safari, Jeepers Jamboree Rubicon, and the many other events Casey is going to do, Currie is going to be busier than ever. Once again, Casey is full throttle into next year and is looking forward to it.

Halloween 2015 Marks The 50th Anniversary Of One Of NASCAR’s All-Time Great Races

October 31, 2015

Throughout NASCAR history, some of the sport’s greatest stories occurred on the same day, in the same race.

On Nov. 15, 1992, at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Richard Petty ran his last Sprint Cup race, Jeff Gordon ran his first one, and that same race saw Alan Kulwicki beat Bill Elliott to win the championship in a title battle still considered by many to be the sport’s best ever.

The same thing was true of the Oct. 31, 1965 race at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham. Continue reading Halloween 2015 Marks The 50th Anniversary Of One Of NASCAR’s All-Time Great Races
