JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO.48 LOWE’S CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Kansas Speedway and discussed how he’s feeling going into this week’s Playoff cutoff race, his confidence in his team and pit crew, the youth of Hendrick Motorsports and many other topics. Full Transcript:

WHAT TO YOU DRAW FROM YOUR PAST EXPERIENCE TO HELP YOU DEAL WITH THE PLAYOFF PRESSURE THIS WEEK?
“Yeah, I mean it’s a tough position to be in. In some ways that crash also impacted other guys that I need to be concerned with. It kind of is what it is. We did fall a few spots in the points, but thankfully, we did score points in both of the opening stages. So, I mean I look back at Talladega and I think we all know and feel like there is going to be a ‘Big One’. I think there were only six (cars) running at the end, so, there were only a few people that actually made it through to see the checkered flag at all, which isn’t unexpected. But, coming here, this has been a great track for us. We have had a ton of speed here. I think back to this spring and how many cars we passed through the course of the day. We will have a great performance here and we are going to need to have a great day. It would be great to get back to Victory Lane and get that momentum going in the right direction, but more than anything we want to make sure that we advance and get to that next round of eight.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Kansas–Jimmie Johnson

BOWTIE BULLETS
ELITE EIGHT:
Chevrolet currently has four drivers still in contention to take home the hardware in Homestead and become the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Serie champion. However, this weekend at Kansas, the pressure is on as 12 will become eight.

Jamie McMurray sits at the bottom of the Playoff standings heading into Kansas. The driver of the No. 1 Chevy SS all but needs to win this weekend at Kansas Speedway in order to become one of the elite eight. Seven-time Cup Series champion, Jimmie Johnson is only seven points above the cut line. He will need a solid finish this weekend at Kansas in order to advance and have an opportunity to chase an eighth title. Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott each have a healthy cushion (20 points or more) above the cut line, but are not locked-in to the Round of 8 and will need solid finishes in order to advance. Boss Bird update Fall 2017

We took the Boss Bird to the Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk, OH for the weekend of August 5-6. We had a bit more power dialed-in and took to the track on Saturday. Unfortunately track conditions weren’t ideal (street tired cars ran ahead of us, putting hard rubber on the track) and the car made a hard turn sideways right after the launch. Back in the pits, we found some engine damage due to a clogged oil passage….so it was probably good that we didn’t make a full hard pass. Saturday evening (pictured below) turned into a late night engine rebuilding thrash, complete with carryout pizza at the track for dinner. Since it’s the only nitro car at that event, we draw a lot of attention from folks who are interested in the inner workings of our engine. Continue reading Boss Bird update Fall 2017

Blaney, Omnicraft Team Head To Their Best Track For Round Of 12 Finale

Blaney, Omnicraft Team Head To Their Best Track For Round Of 12 Finale
October 18, 2017

If Ryan Blaney and his No. 21 Omnicraft team had their pick of race tracks to run the elimination race of the Round of 12 of the Monster Energy Cup playoffs, they’d likely pick Kansas Speedway, the site of Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400.

Blaney made his Cup debut at Kansas in 2014, driving a Team Penske Ford. Since moving to the Wood Brothers No. 21 the next season, Kansas has statistically been his best track.

He has three finishes of seventh or better in four Kansas starts in the No. 21 Fusion with an average finish of 7.5. He won his first Cup pole there in May, and set a career record for points earned in a single race with 51. Continue reading Blaney, Omnicraft Team Head To Their Best Track For Round Of 12 Finale

Giovanni Scelzi Rallies From Heat Race Crash to Post Top 10 in KWS-NARC A Main

Giovanni Scelzi Rallies From Heat Race Crash to Post Top 10 in KWS-NARC A Main

Inside Line Promotions – HANFORD, Calif. (Oct. 17, 2017) – Giovanni Scelzi overcame a rough ride last Saturday at Keller Auto Speedway to remain within striking distance of the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series championship.

Scelzi and the Roth Motorsports team got upside down in a heat race before rebounding to post a top-10 finish in the main event. Scelzi ranks second in the championship standings by only three points with one race remaining.

“The track was so rough and challenging,” he said. “In the heat race the curb was massive in turns one and two. I hit it and biked and got upside down. You’re racing so hard to make the dash and you make a mistake and that’s what happens.”

Scelzi opened the night by qualifying fourth quickest. He was running third in the heat race when the incident on the final lap resulted in a crash. The team thrashed to repair the damage prior to the B Main, which Scelzi won from the pole to lock into the 14th starting position in the main event.

“I got up to ninth within the first half of the race,” he said. “There was a restart where everyone got bottled up and I gained quite a few spots. I was pushing pretty hard to get as many spots as I could and I got up to sixth. There was a minefield of holes going into turn three. I hit one and slid off the track. I fell back to 12th and drove back up to eighth by the end of the race. I tried to salvage what I could.”

Scelzi’s eighth-place finish was his 26th top 10 of the season and it keeps him in contention for his first career King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series title, which will be decided on Nov. 4 at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif.

Here is a link to watch last Saturday’s main event: https://youtu.be/LMMCo9a1LGw.

Scelzi will return to action this Thursday through Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., for the 24th annual Trophy Cup.

Unavoidable, Multi-Car Incident on Lap 173 Collects the No. 3 American Ethanol Chevrolet and ends Austin Dillon’s Race Early

“We ended up in a wreck that ended our day early in the American Ethanol Chevrolet. It’s just part of speedway racing. What do you do? You can go and race hard all day. You can ride in the back and try to not to get in one of those big wrecks. We chose to run right in the pack and it bit us today. I was proud we earned some stage points at the end of Stage 2.”
