CHIP (GANASSI) HAS BOTH YOU (AND KYLE LARSON) IN THE PLAYOFFS. HE HAS (SCOTT) DIXON GOING FOR THE (INDYCAR) CHAMPIONSHIP. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR CHIP?
“I wouldn’t say the Cup side is more important but I think he’s as excited or more excited than the IndyCar side… just because he’s won so many IndyCar championships and it seems like that team is in contention every year for the championship. On the NASCAR side, not as many years has he been in contention for that. With the 42 team, they’ve been the second-best team all year long. I’ve known Chip for a long time. He’s in as good a mood and is as relaxed as I’ve seen him in a long time.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Playoff Media–Jamie McMurray

Daryn Pittman and Brad Sweet had very strong runs last Wednesday at Willamette, both finishing on the podium.
Pittman was caught up in a mid-race crash Friday at Silver Dollar. Two cars got together right in front of the No. 9 machine, with nowhere for him to go ending their night early.
Only 19 races remain on the 2017 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series schedule.
The next WoO event is Friday, September 17 at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, Calif.

Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team Honored To Be A Part Of NASCAR’s Playoffs

September 14, 2017

As Ryan Blaney and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team heads to Chicagoland Speedway to kick off their first-ever appearance in NASCAR’s playoffs, team co-owner Eddie Wood is hoping for a strong run over the final 10 races. But foremost on his mind at this point is that he’s simply glad to be among the elite 16 teams that will begin the run to the championship.

“It’s truly an honor to be a part of it,” he said. “I’m proud of our race team. I’m proud of all of our sponsors – Motorcraft and Quick Lane and the people at Ford Motor Company. Continue reading Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team Honored To Be A Part Of NASCAR’s Playoffs

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CHANCES IN THE PLAYOFFS:
“I think our chances are solid. We have nothing to lose in my mindset in where we are at as far as the points go. Last year we made some noise and made it to the second round, and missed the third round by one point. I kicked myself over that point but I learned from it experience-wise. I know how aggressive I need to be in those first couple of races to put ourselves in a little better position for the third race. They are three-race seasons and you have to take them as that and get as much as you can out of them.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Playoff Media–Austin Dillon

IS THERE A CONCERN THAT YOU ARE GOING INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP AS A LAME DUCK?
“Actually, there is really no concern for me about that. I know that I’m going to give everything. We talked last week, myself and every guy on my team and they all want to do the best they possibly can in my final 10 races and I want to do the best I can for them during my final 10 with them. Yeah, I feel like we have as good of an opportunity to run well in these final 10 that we’ve had all season long. And look forward to being back in the Playoffs something I hadn’t been in a couple of years. Excited to be here today (at Playoff Media Day) and excited to go to Chicago and get it started.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Playoff Media–Kasey Kahne

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT GOING INTO THE PLAYOFFS? OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A LOT OF TALK AROUND MARTIN TRUEX, JR. AND HOW WELL HE HAS RUN THIS YEAR. IS THAT MOTIVATION FOR YOU?
“All I’ve ever cared about is myself and my team and our sponsors; and to go out there and do the best job we can. Obviously, yeah, our stats aren’t as good as some others. But, you can’t have Playoffs if you don’t incorporate the other guys, too. The championship is not 26 races. It’s 36. ARE YOU AWARE THAT IF YOU WIN THE TITLE THIS YEAR YOU WILL BE THE ONLY DRIVER TO HAVE EIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CUP?
(Laughs) “I heard something about that. You know, I do think about it occasionally but the format really doesn’t allow you to do so. Even last year. We had the summer slump, started the playoff and we do well with winning Charlotte and winning Martinsville. Things start rolling and momentum picks up that we didn’t have six to eight weeks before and we are the champions. I am obviously hoping for more of the same but all being said, it is so tough knowing who the person is going to be. I feel that the playoff points might change that, and should change that to where if you have had a good year and you collect those playoff points that you will be one of the four in Homestead. So, we will have to see how that really plays out. This playoff format to date – nobody knows, and it takes away from over-thinking it which is really nice.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Playoff Media–Jimmie JOhnson

WHO IS THE FAVORITE GOING INTO THE PLAYOFFS?
“It’s kind of hard to have a favorite really. It’s only one race. Martin will be really good there. If both Kyle Busch and I make it there, I think we’re both really good at that style of racetrack. Harvick obviously is really good. Jimmie.
I mean, there’s so many people that are good at Homestead, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But I think if you had to pick a favorite to make it all the way there, it would be Martin.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Playoff Media–Kyle Larson

Troy Coughlin ready to assume Pro Mod
points lead despite sudden rule change
CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 12) — Earlier this season after tinkering with the rules for the J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, NHRA officials promised competitors no more changes for the remainder of the year. That promise has been broken with turbo-powered entries losing two pounds of boost, a massive horsepower hit, on the eve of the 10th annual NHRA Carolina Nationals.

Stunned by the news, but nevertheless undaunted, two-time series champion Troy Coughlin promises to fight on with his twin-turbo JEGS.com Chevrolet Corvette C7, which he’s raced to second place on the strength of four final-round showings in a row.
