Pre-Race Report

A trip back to Brownsburg to pick up the El Guapo body made for a busy week for Cruz Pedregon’s team leading up to this weekend’s Sonoma Nationals. “That was a trip we didn’t plan on having to make, but we’re getting everything back together and proving the resilience of this team,” Cruz says. “We’re coming off some strong runs and a round one win in Denver with our El Veijito (older person) body after blowing the new El Chicano body off during qualifying last Friday. In spite of a tough start to last weekend and a quick trip home to get another body, you’ll see the team rocking and rolling when we hit Sonoma Raceway.” Continue reading Cruz Pedregon–Sonoma Advance

Austin Dillon and the Dow Chevrolet Team Run Solidly in the Top 15 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Before Late-Race, Unscheduled Green-Flag Pit Stop

“The Dow Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was loose on entry to start the race, but a pit stop for four tires, fuel and adjustments definitely improved the car’s handling. We kept up with changing track conditions through adjustments in the pits throughout the race, and ended up with a pretty good handling Camaro ZL1. We were posting top-10 lap times during most of the race and running in eighth when we ended up with a loose wheel and had to make an unscheduled pit stop under green flag conditions. It cost us the lead lap. It’s a shame because we had a rocket ship but couldn’t do anything with it. I’m proud of the guys for building a really fast car. We are on the right track.”

An interview with Funny Car winner JOHN FORCE, JOHN FORCE RACING, PEAK COOLANT & MOTOR OIL CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 5 qualifier; first win of season and 149th of Funny Car career; eighth win at Bandimere Speedway; surpassed 1,300 elimination round wins; competed in his 749th Funny Car race):
EVERY SEASON HAS UPS AND DOWNS, BUT I DON’T THINK THE DOWNS HAVE EVER BEEN AS FAR AS THEY WERE EARLIER THIS SEASON. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE HIGHEST OF THE UPS
“I found myself with all the crashes and everything that happened probably at the lowest – worse than ’07 when I crashed — fighting to get back. I never let on to anybody but it showed that I looked like a mess. Then, after my last crash – I had four of them – John Bandimere calls me and says ‘We’ve got to talk.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, I know you love God and I know where you want to go. And I love Him, too, don’t get me wrong.’ He said, ‘You have to listen.’ He sent me stuff and I started reading. And he took me down this road and I said I don’t even know if I’m going to be able to get back ever and win a race. He said, ‘You can.’ He said, ‘When you get to Denver you’ll be fixed.’ He didn’t say I was going to win Denver. He said when you get there you’ll be fixed. ‘Now go out there and show me who John Force is.’ I found myself.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NHRA–Bandimere Post Race

COURTNEY FORCE LANDS ADVANCE AUTO PARTS IN NO. 1 SPOT AT MILE-HIGH NATIONALS

COURTNEY FORCE LANDS ADVANCE AUTO PARTS IN NO. 1 SPOT AT
MILE-HIGH NATIONALS

MORRISON, Colo. (July 21, 2018) — For the third consecutive year, Courtney Force powered her Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car to the No. 1 position at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals held at Bandimere Speedway just outside of Denver. Her Funny Car teammates followed close behind with Robert Hight and the Auto Club Camaro taking the No. 3 spot and John Force locking up the No. 5 position with his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Camaro. In Top Fuel, Brittany Force improved to the No. 2 position in her Carquest Brakes Monster Energy dragster.

Off the efforts of her 3.949-second pass at 309.91 mph from the final qualifying session, Courtney Force secured her ninth No. 1 qualifier of the season, 26th of her career, third consecutive at Bandimere Speedway and the 300th Funny Car No. 1 for John Force Racing.
“That run felt awesome and we obviously had nothing to lose,” said Force who is now third in No. 1 starts at John Force Racing behind only Hight and John Force. “It was a solid pass and we picked up a fair amount of bonus points throughout qualifying. My car actually shut off early that last run and that is why my speed was down. I think this Advance Auto Parts Chevy Camaro had a lot more in it. The conditions will be completely different going into race day but we feel like we have a pretty good hot rod and all of our Chevrolets are running strong.” Continue reading COURTNEY FORCE LANDS ADVANCE AUTO PARTS IN NO. 1 SPOT AT MILE-HIGH NATIONALS
