KASEY KAHNE, NO. 95 THORNE WELLNESS CAMARO ZL1, met with members of the media at Bristol Motor Speedway to discuss the recent announcement that he would be retiring from full-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition at the conclusion of the 2018 season. Full Transcript:

HOW LONG HAD THIS REALLY BEEN GOING ON IN YOUR HEAD? HOW LONG HAD YOU BEEN CONSIDERING MAKING THIS MOVE? HOW HARD WAS IT TO KEEP IT TO YOURSELF?
“It has been on my mind for a while. Truthfully, the last two years at Hendrick and then the year here at LFR (Leavine Family Racing) just like as far as competition, I haven’t been as competitive as what I want to be. So, I would say over the last three, four months it’s started being on my mind, like man, do I need to find other things to do and think of other things to do. I just finally made that decision. But it’s definitely been there for a few months. I would say this year and LFR is working very hard to make improvements even get better from where we are at right now and that was exciting to me. It kept me in it a little bit longer, but then I finally just decided that it is time to do something different. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Bristol–Kasey Kahne

SEASON ON HIGH NOTE
BRAINERD, Minn. (August 16, 2018) — Current Funny Car points leader Courtney Force and her Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS show no signs of slowing down as they head into the final two races of the regular season. With four wins and ten No. 1 qualifiers to her name, Force is looking towards the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in search of more consistency and more momentum to carry the team into the Countdown to the Championship.

“This Advance Auto Parts team is ready to head back to Brainerd,” said Force. “With how we’re running right now it will be a good weekend. We’ve never won there before but we’ve qualified pretty well and been able to go some rounds. BRAINERD INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
BRAINERD, Minn. (Aug. 16, 2018) — Brittany Force, back in her Monster Energy green and black Top Fuel dragster for this weekend’s Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, heads to Brainerd International Raceway with high hopes as she sits eighth in the Mello Yello points standings. Being in the bottom half of the field isn’t something the reigning world champion is worried about after her team battled from sixth to claim the category crown in 2017.

The Monster Energy team picked 18 of 24 round wins in the final six races of the season and finished the season sweeping the Auto Club Finals. The standout team secured the No. 1 qualifier, won the championship with a second-round victory on Sunday and went on to finish the season with the race win. This season, Force has arguably already overcome her toughest challenge of her career. Continue reading BRITTANY FORCE POISED FOR MORE RACE DAY SUCCESS AT BRAINERD INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

DETROIT (Aug. 15, 2018) – Past success at a racetrack is a tangible motivator for Verizon IndyCar Series (VICS) drivers. More intrinsic, though no less significant, is a driver’s perceptions of the venue – “their enjoyability factor,” according to Will Power.

Power returns this weekend to Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, for the ABC Supply 500 with motivation and momentum. Power, the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series champion and four-time title runner-up, has won the past two 500-mile races on 2.5-mile tri-oval designed by Rodger Ward. JOHN FORCE EYES 150th CAREER VICTORY IN EVENT HE HAS WON
MORE THAN ANY OTHER
BRAINERD, Minn. (August 15, 2018) — If John Force is to win his 150th NHRA event before the end of his 42nd pro season, his best opportunity may come this weekend when he drives the PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Chevrolet Camaro SS in pursuit of the Funny Car championship at the 37th annual Lucas Oil Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway.

At no other venue has the Hall of Fame owner/driver been more successful than at BIR where he has won 11 times in 32 career appearances, where he never has failed to make the starting field and where he has won 78.3 percent of the elimination rounds in which he has been involved (76 of 97).

Coming off a final round triumph over teammate Robert Hight in last week’s independently-produced Night Under Fire at Norwalk, Ohio, the 69-year-old’s confidence is steadily growing as he battles to secure one of the 10 Funny Car starting spots in the upcoming Countdown to the Championship. CHEVY OVER 40 CLUB:
Bristol Motor Speedway is one of only six tracks on the current Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedule where Chevrolet has more than 40 victories. Chevrolet has visited Winner’s Circle at the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’ 45 times, more than any other brand.

CHEVROLET HISTORY MINUTE:
Chevrolet earned their first win at the ‘Last Great Coliseum’ in 1971 with Charlie Glotzbach behind the wheel, the same race Glotzbach set the race speed record at Bristol clocking 101.074 mph average pace throughout the 500-lap event. Cruz Pedregon–Brainerd Advance

NHRA® Team Report
Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals – Brainerd, MN
Pre-Race Report

Cruz Pedregon and team are undaunted by recent challenges and looking forward the weekend ahead in Brainerd. “I’m working with our new crew chief Tommy DeLago and assistant crew chief Glen (Huszar) to go over every aspect of the Snap-on Toyota with a fine-tooth comb to make sure the car is running at its peak performance this weekend,” Cruz says.

In an announcement made last week, Cruz shared news of the team changes saying, “Tommy has one of the most impressive resumes in the sport and we believe he can help take our Snap-on Funny Car to the Countdown to the Championship playoffs. His championship-winning experience will be a tremendous asset to our program.”

Huszar has experience working with DeLago who has a notable career as the crew chief of the 2011 Funny Car world champion driven by Matt Hagan. He also was the first crew chief to guide a nitro-fueled Funny Car to a pass under four seconds (3.995, Charlotte 2, 2011). Most recently, he was with Kalitta Motorsports where he tuned Alexis DeJoria to all of her five career wins, including the prestigious U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis in 2014.

Along with making decisions about the team, Cruz took time after the Seattle race to travel to Nashville to attend the Snap-on Franchisee Conference (SFC) of his primary sponsor. Cruz signed autographs by the Snap-on Toyota show car that was on display as a part of the SFC’s 150,000-square-foot show floor, always a popular photo spot at the annual event.

ROBERT HIGHT READY TO RACE AT HISTORIC BRAINERD
INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
BRAINERD, Minn. (Aug. 15, 2018) — To say the idea of heading back to Brainerd International Raceway excites two time and reigning world champion Robert Hight is an understatement. The driver of the Auto Club of Southern California Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car made history at last year’s Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals and with two wins already under his belt this season and a solid hold on the No. 3 points position, it’s game on.

“Brainerd is where we set the quickest run in Funny Car history a 3.793-seconds, the first 3.7 Funny Car run,” explained Hight. “It’s a great race track with great fans and usually great racing conditions. If the conditions are there, we’ll be able to run good there again this year.” Continue reading ROBERT HIGHT READY TO RACE AT HISTORIC BRAINERD INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

DETROIT (Aug. 15, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s title chase in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship takes it to a circuit where – not surprisingly – it has shown significant strength: Virginia International Raceway.

This weekend’s Michelin GT Challenge is a GT-only weekend with the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class taking top billing. It’s a situation that has worked out well for Corvette Racing in the past with the program looking for a third straight victory – and fourth in class since 2012 – at the 3.27-mile, 17-turn circuit that straddles the borders of North Carolina and Virginia. Giovanni Scelzi Surpasses Jeff Gordon’s Record for Youngest Driver to Make Knoxville Nationals A Main

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 14, 2018) – Giovanni Scelzi continues to capture attention as he became the youngest driver to earn a starting spot into the famed Knoxville Nationals last weekend.

The 16-year-old bested the previous mark by Jeff Gordon, who had recently turned 18-years-old when he set the record in 1989.

“It’s the hardest race of the year to make and the biggest race,” Scelzi said. “It blew away expectations for me. You try to go into every race with the same mindset, but at the Knoxville Nationals you can’t treat it the same because the best drivers in the world are there. There’s not a tougher race in the world. To lock in and be one of the top 16, it was cool to be a part of. I wanted to run last year at Knoxville and the age thing didn’t let me. To beat Jeff Gordon’s record, which stood for 29 years, was really cool.” Continue reading Giovanni Scelzi Surpasses Jeff Gordon’s Record for Youngest Driver to Make Knoxville Nationals A Main

Kirsty Widdrigton–BDC Round 2 2018–Teesside Autodrome

After a disappointing trip to Ireland previously for IDC Round 2 we had BDC the following weekend, after having our prop failure we had desperately tried to source a replacement however it turned out that the prop shaft that came with the gearbox conversion was a “bitsa” model however luckily for us a very good friend Ali lent us his one piece prop shaft for this weekend so that we could attend the event and not only that but he carried out a 5 hour round trip to drop this off to us to enable us to compete whilst in the middle of moving house! (What an absolute hero!) Continue reading Kirsty Widdrigton–BDC Round 2 2018–Teesside Autodrome
