Pair of Corvettes set for eight hours of running at famed Circuit de la Sarthe

• Corvette Racing seeks ninth class victory in competitive GTE Pro category
• Road America, Chevrolet simulator sessions part of intense preparation
• Six Corvette Racing drivers with 19 combined Le Mans victories

DETROIT (May 28, 2019) – Corvette Racing is back across the Atlantic once again for a landmark appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – its 20th consecutive appearance at the historic French endurance race.

Sunday’s annual Le Mans Test Day serves as a final dress rehearsal for the twice-around-the-clock race on June 15-16. It is the only time that Corvette Racing – and the rest of the 62-car field – can turn laps around the 8.48-mile Circuit de la Sarthe, a mixture of permanent race track and public roads.

This is a landmark year at Le Mans for Corvette Racing. No team is on record as having made more than 20 consecutive appearances, and the program has won eight times in 19 tries. What’s more, Corvette Racing’s Le Mans record also includes eight runner-up class finishes and nearly 100,00 racing miles completed. Continue reading Corvette Racing at Le Mans–Circuit de la Sarthe

KING OF THE WEST-NARC SPRINT CARS SET TO INVADE PETALUMA ON SATURDAY

5/28/19, Sacramento, CA (Jim Allen) … The high-powered 950-horsepower King of the West-NARC Fujitsu 410 Sprint Car Series will battle wheel-to-wheel this Saturday, June 1st, when the traveling series invades the always exciting Petaluma Speedway.

This marks the first of only two appearances at Petaluma for the series which is celebrating its 60th Anniversary season. Interesting enough, despite it being June, the King of the West-NARC campaign only has two races under its belt in 2019 due to unpredictable weather. However, competition will be ramping up quickly with five races scheduled at five different tracks during June. Continue reading KING OF THE WEST-NARC SPRINT CARS SET TO INVADE PETALUMA ON SATURDAY

Menard Finishes 14th in Coca-Cola 600 At Charlotte

Menard Finishes 14th in Coca-Cola 600 At Charlotte

May 27, 2019

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Menards/Knauf Insulation team came within 10 laps of ending a great day of racing with a top-10 finish in the Coca-Cola 600, but a late caution ended up relegating them to a 14th-place finish.

Menard started Sunday’s marathon at Charlotte Motor Speedway from 17th place and spent much of the night running in the top 15 as crew chief Greg Erwin and the Menards/Knauf team adjusted their Mustang for the changing conditions as the race went from daytime to dark.

The further the race went, the better Menard’s Mustang performed, and when the green flag flew for a restart with 35 laps to go, he was in 10th place and on the move forward. Continue reading Menard Finishes 14th in Coca-Cola 600 At Charlotte

RCR Post Race Report – Coca-Cola 600

Austin Dillon and the No. 3 Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Chevrolet Team Show Speed in Coca-Cola 600 But Retire Early
Following On-Track Incident

“I’m disappointed because we had a fast Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Chevy Camaro ZL1 all weekend so I thought we would have a stronger race today then what we did. We were a victim of circumstance, but that’s what happens in racing sometimes. We worked hard throughout the race to adjust our car and keep up with changing track conditions, but our race ended early after an accident during the final Stage. I saw the No. 42 car spinning. I don’t know if it would have turned out in our favor if I would have slowed down and tried to get stopped, but I saw a gap so I made the decision to go all the way to the left to try and get through it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. It’s part of it. We’ll be ready for Pocono Raceway next week.”

Early Contact Hinders Daniel Hemric’s Efforts in First
Coca-Cola 600 Start with Cessna Chevrolet

“I really hate this night did not turn out better than it did for everyone on this Cessna Chevrolet Team. Luke Lambert and everyone on this team gave me a really fast No. 8 Cessna Chevy. We showed that in practice throughout the weekend and in qualifying on Thursday night. The car took off really well to start the race but we got so many cautions in Stage 1 that we made a strategy call to stay out and were able to grab the lead by doing that. Being able to lead in my first Coca-Cola 600 was a cool experience for sure, but the cars with fresher tires were much quicker on the restart. One of them made contact with the right rear and sent me into the outside wall off Turn 4. I’m really proud of everyone on this team, because they never gave up. We hit pit road as much as possible the rest of the night and they made repairs as best they could. We kept adjusting on it and just tried to do all we could to get to the end. When the caution came out with about 35 laps to go, we took the wave around to get one lap back and hoped for a quick caution, but we never got that when we needed and had to hit pit road under green with 20 laps to go. We will head to Pocono and try to change our luck there.”

Josef Newgarden, No. 2 Shell V-Power Nitro Plus Team Penske Chevrolet (started 8th; finished 4th): “We just fell short. It hurts a lot to be in positions and then fell out of position when (Takuma) Sato got by me. Then it was really tough to do anything. Certainly you needed to be those top two guys; that’s kind of blocking everything out. I tried to make up ground on the (final) restart. I got by (Ed) Carpenter and got into third but I just couldn’t quite get (Alexander) Rossi, and that’s what I think we needed to be in the fight at the end. We were close, we just fell short. The Shell V-Power car was fast all day, Chevrolet gave us what we needed. It’s a Team Penske victory. One of us wining is what ‘The Captain’ wants. They do such a great job that it’s great to reward the whole group with a victory. Congrats to Simon. Still not a bad day but it hurts a bit.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Indy 500– Post Race

Tyler Reddick Tames the Beast at Charlotte Motor Speedway

“Man, that Tame the Beast Chevy was one of the best race cars I’ve ever sat in. Randall Burnett and my team really used the two off-weekends to their advantage and spent a lot of time working to find what we needed to have just that edge we wanted to have when we roll of the hauler at these tracks. This Chevrolet was just awesome right from the start of the weekend. I almost hated having the Friday off in between practice day and the race. I wanted to get out there and race right away. Charlotte Motor Speedway has been a challenge for me in the past, so I knew I needed to be on my game to get us to Victory Lane. Luckily, I was able to do just that. The handling fired off a little loose today but by the time the final stage came around it was right where I wanted it. The boys on pit road got it done today, which helped a lot too. This was a huge team effort, and I can’t thank everyone for their support. This has been an awesome start to the year.”

JR Hildebrand, No. 48 DRR Salesforce Chevrolet, met with members of the media at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to discuss the May 26 race and other topics. Selected quotes:

WILL CARB DAY, WHICH MIGHT HAVE THE SIMILAR WEATHER CONDITIONS OF SUNDAY, PART AN IMPORTANT PART IN YOUR PREPARATION?
“For sure. It’s called Carb Day, which seems kind of outdated just from the perspective that it’s carburation day, and in a weird day we’re coming at it with the same general rationale, which is we want to be able to drive the cars in as close to race day weather conditions to tune the aero on the car. So it’s kind of turned from tuning an engine to tuning the aerodynamics. Assuming that tomorrow is similar to race day conditions, I think we’ll learn a lot about what will be the most significant challenges on race day for passing and running in traffic. Hopefully, we can adapt quickly enough during the day to make the car better and be a little more prepared heading into Sunday.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Indy 500–Dreyer and Reinbold Racing
