SPENCER PIGOT, NO. 21 FUZZY’S VODKA ED CARPENTER RACING CHEVROLET – Finished 2nd
BEST CAREER FINISH AT YOUR VERY FIRST TIME AT IOWA IN AN INDYCAR WHAT WAS IT LIKE RUNNING UP FRONT AND HAVING A TON OF SPEED?
“Yeah, it was a tough race. Right from the get go I knew we had a fast car the way we were getting through traffic, but I think as the stints went on we just seemed to get stronger and stronger and before we knew it we were right up towards the front, which was great. I can’t thank the guys enough, my engineer Matt () made some really good decisions and gave me a great car. The whole Ed Carpenter Racing team, Fuzzy’s Vodka, Chevrolet, a real team effort here and it was fun, it was tough, a lot of close racing, but yeah I really enjoyed it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Iowa–Post Race

ROBERT HIGHT TAKES AAA NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND TO QUARTERFINALS

ROBERT HIGHT TAKES AAA NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND TO QUARTERFINALS
EPPING, N.H. (July 8, 2018) — Robert Hight raced his AAA Northern New England Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car to the quarterfinals Sunday at the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway. John Force and Brittany Force also had quarterfinal finishes and Courtney Force had an early exit in round one.

After a consistent qualifying effort, Hight, who ended up No. 5, faced Bob Tasca III in the first round of eliminations. Hight had to pedal his AAA Northern New England Camaro to the finish line after both he and Tasca started to have tire shake at about 330 feet. Hight, the two-time and reigning world champion, crossed the finish line first with a 4.463-second pass at 246.98 mph bettering Tasca’s 4.581 at 242.89. Menard Drives His Battered Ford To A 28th Place Finish At Daytona

July 8, 2018

Paul Menard took two spectacular rides in Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

In the first, he drove his No. 21 Menards/Moen Ford Fusion from the 30th starting position to eighth place before the end of the race’s first 40-lap Stage.

In the second, he took a wild ride through the air and onto the infield grass after being hit from behind by the Chevrolet of Jimmie Johnson. Continue reading Menard Drives His Battered Ford To A 28th Place Finish At Daytona

RCR Post Race Report – Coke Zero Sugar 400

Strong Showing for Austin Dillon and the American Ethanol e15 Team in Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona

“This was absolutely the best car I have ever had at a superspeedway, so I have to give big thanks to everyone at RCR and ECR Engines for all of their hard work in the shop on the American Ethanol e15 Camaro ZL1. We were really strong until we ended up with damage during a Stage 2 incident, and even after that we were in contention. We spent most of the rest of the race working on the car during cautions. With 30 to go the right rear quarter panel came lose and essentially worked as a parachute. Thankfully, we ended up with a caution pretty quickly and were able to make repairs. I thought we were going to have a shot there at the end but another car made it three-wide and there is just no momentum when you try to race that way. It feels good to leave Daytona with a strong showing for RCR and ECR.”

Ryan Newman Survives Wild Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona to Finish Eighth in Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Chevrolet

“We had some luck on our side tonight to miss a lot of those big wrecks early and the No. 31 Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Chevrolet was going to be in pretty good shape. We got squeezed between two cars late in the race and I didn’t lift, so we got some damage from that. Then the big wreck happened coming to the white flag, I got into the No. 6 and we got even more damage to the nose and fenders. We had a tire rub on the last green-white-checkered but still came home with an eighth-place finish. Not a bad night for everyone on this Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s team.”

POST RACE PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT:
AJ ALLMENDINGER, NO. 47 KROGER CLICKLIST CAMARO ZL1 – Finished 3rd:

THE MODERATOR: We are joined by tonight’s third‑place finisher for the 60th annual Coke Zero Sugar 400. Here we have third‑place finisher AJ Allmendinger, driver of the No. 47 Kroger Clicklist Chevrolet for JTG Daugherty Racing.

Q. AJ, you got third tonight, your best finish, I believe, this year. Is it surprising you got it here at this race?
AJ ALLMENDINGER: No, I mean, we’ve ‑‑ for whatever reason, we run well here. My guys, they ‑‑ we really work hard on setup and trying to get at least a good handling race car, especially in the 4th of July race, and Daytona, the last, I think, four races I’ve had a shot to win the race.
You know, tonight was strange. Tried to ride at the back early on, and still got wrecked and had a lot of damage on the left rear of the race car, so my guys did a good job to fix it good enough. Heck, I probably missed another seven wrecks after that. It was just kind of chaos out there.
You know, it was a little bit of survival, and there at the end it was just trying to make the right moves. With that damage on the left side of the race car, it put a lot of drag in it, so I didn’t really know if we had a great shot to win it. I knew my only shot was going to be off of Turn 4 and try to make the right move. Going down into 3, Martin was battling with Erik there and made a move and tried to push Martin and obviously get as much as I could, and we salvaged a great result out of it. We had two cars in the top 5 out of our race team. You know, I mean, it’s just a solid night. It’s one of these nights where you’ve just got to survive. It’s not pretty. I think that was a lot of crazy racing, but we survived.

Q. Both in February and this race, it seems like all the wrecks, the big multi‑car wrecks are happening at the front. Is it blocking? Is it just the urgency of needing to be up front because if you get shuffled back you can’t get back up there? Any reason for that?

AJ ALLMENDINGER: I agree. No, I mean, I think it’s ‑‑ some of the wrecks happen at the end of the stages. You know, the 500 especially. You know, the stage points, especially to start the year, I think everybody is aggressive on them, trying to get more stage points and get your season kicked off right. Hell, I don’t know what happened tonight. I was trying to ride at the back, and it just seemed like ‑‑ the blocking, it seems aggressive. I mean, it is very aggressive. The urgency, whether it’s to stay up front, even if there’s a lot of time left to get back to the front, I’m not really sure why, but to me that’s what’s causing it.

Matt Tifft and the No. 2 KC Motorgroup Camaro Team Salvage Top-20 Finish at Daytona International Speedway

“We had a great No. 2 KC Motorgroup Chevrolet Camaro tonight and ran in the top 10 for the majority of the race. We started off too heavy on the splitter but worked to get it exactly where it needed to be for the final stage. The bottom lane was best for us all night. Unfortunately during the final stage, the 60 car kept going high to the middle and leaving a gap, so I started to move around him when he came down on me and spun us around. My team gave it their all and repaired it enough for us to stay out for the remainder of the race. Every point matters when you’re running for a championship, and we made sure to get every one we could despite our circumstances. We made gains throughout all three restrictor-plate races this season. We just don’t have the finishes to show it. We’ll get back after it here in February.”

CAMARO ZL1 CAPTURES SECOND CONSECUTIVE DAYTONA POLE
Chevrolet Earns Fourth Pole of Season, 698th All-Time

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 6, 2018) – Chase Elliott scored his fourth career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) pole putting the No. 9 Hooters Camaro ZL1 in the top spot at Daytona International Speedway with a lap of 46.381 seconds and an average speed of 194.045 mph. The run marks Elliott’s third pole in six races at the ‘World Center of Racing’ and his first pole win of the 2018 MENCS season.

“Our Hooters Chevy has been nice all weekend,” Elliott said after capturing the pole. “We made a couple of changes actually at the end of that last practice before the rain and made it go a little faster. I hope that translates to a good driving car tomorrow night. Obviously, a lot of speed in our Chevrolet’s. I’ve said this before, but we have put a lot of effort into our speedway program at Hendrick Motorsports. The engine shop, chassis shop, body shop, we take a lot of pride in coming to these races. They pay the same amount of points as the rest of them, so it matters and our team treats it that way and their hard work pays off.” Continue reading CAMARO ZL1 CAPTURES SECOND CONSECUTIVE DAYTONA POLE
