GREG ANDERSON WINS FIFTH K&N HORSEPOWER CHALLENGE

GREG ANDERSON WINS FIFTH K&N HORSEPOWER CHALLENGE

Las Vegas, NV (April 2, 2016) – Greg Anderson won his fifth K&N Horsepower Challenge in his Summit Racing Equipment Camaro today at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He takes home a check for $50,000 and a custom made trophy. He now has more K&N Horsepower Challenge wins than any other Pro Stock driver.

“I just love this race. It is so much fun. You don’t have to worry about points you are just racing for a big check,” said Anderson. “This is a great start to the weekend for us. Feel like I’ve just won at the big craps table.”

Anderson faced his KB Racing teammate Jason Line for an all-Summit Racing Equipment final. Unfortunately Line’s car encountered problems during his burnout, leaking oil on the track, putting him out of the competition.

Anderson was not the only big winner today. Part of the K&N Horsepower Challenge pairs each driver up with a fan drawn randomly from contestants across the country. When Anderson took the win light, Eva Mack of Pennsylvania won a brand new Toyota Tacoma truck.

“I want to thank the Toyota people for giving away a truck to a lucky fan; that makes you feel better than anything else,” said Anderson. “I feel great about getting to hand over the keys to a lucky lady from Pennsylvania more than anything else.”

Anderson now has the chance to double-up this weekend by winning the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals tomorrow afternoon.

“This is the biggest chance at a payday for us all year long. That gets my blood flowing competing for big money like that,” said Anderson. “It’s a great weekend so far; we’re halfway home. I would love nothing better than to find my way into the winner’s circle and hoist the Denso NHRA Nationals trophy.”

Jason Line nabbed the No. 1 qualifying spot this weekend at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals securing a spot in the 2017 K&N Horsepower Challenge.

Summit Racing’s Line set to challenge for last 2015 title

POMONA, Calif., November 14, 2015 – Qualifying is in the books, and Summit Racing driver Jason Line is prepared to make a charge towards the trophy on Sunday at the 51st annual Auto Club NHRA Finals. Line, whose Pomona history includes reaching each of the most recent three final rounds at Auto Club Raceway Pomona, would very much like to continue the trend. He won the 2014 Winternationals, was runner-up at the 2014 NHRA Finals, and won the 2015 Winternationals.

In the first round of qualifying, Mooresville, N.C.-based Line recorded a 6.528-second pass at 212.86 mph to move into the No. 4 spot in the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro. In the second session, Line improved to a 6.521, 212.79 and took over the No. 6 position. Continue reading Summit Racing’s Line set to challenge for last 2015 title

Line encouraged by strong first day of qualifying for Team Summit

POMONA, Calif., November 13, 2015 – Jason Line and the Summit Racing Pro Stock team came to Pomona for the 51st annual Auto Club NHRA Finals with the same intentions as ever: to win. In Friday qualifying at the final race of 24 on the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour, Line and the KB Racing crew noted a handful of very promising factors and are eager to get down to business on Saturday. Line is currently No. 6 in the qualifying order.

The racing surface at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona was ripe for good runs, and Team Summit came to the table with a strong 6.528-second pass at 212.86 mph in the first session to send Jason Line to the No. 4 spot in the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro. His teammate, Greg Anderson, made a crushingly fast 213.30 mph pass that was the fastest speed of the day for the factory hot rods.

In the second session, Line improved ever so slightly to a 6.521, 212.79 and ended the first day of qualifying in the No. 6 spot. The last round of qualifying also saw KB Racing-powered Bo Butner make the third-quickest pass of the session.

“We had a couple of good moments today, but overall the runs were average, and we know we can go faster,” said Line, who has four Pomona wins on his scorecard. “The runs we made today weren’t quite what we were looking for, but all that means is that we are going to make some changes and swing for it a little harder tomorrow with our Summit Racing Camaros. Today was an okay day, but we expect that tomorrow will be an even better day.”

Mooresville, N.C., November 11, 2015 – The 2015 season of NHRA’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series has been quite a resurgence for Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson. After a very tough 2014, Anderson became a frontrunner for the championship in 2015, flying into first place mid-season after putting an end to a long winless spell and then continuing to charge forward. Although a fifth world title was not to be had for the Mooresville, N.C.-based Anderson this season, it has still been a tremendous year, and one that he intends to close out with a victory. Anderson disappointed by Las Vegas outcome, on to Pomona to finish with a bang

LAS VEGAS, Nev., November 1, 2015 – Greg Anderson came into the 15th annual NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a longshot on his mind. The driver of the red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro had put together his best season as-of-late, and he really, really wanted a fifth NHRA Pro Stock championship. Sunday in Las Vegas, however, the cards did not come up in his favor. Anderson leaves Sin City No. 2 in the Pro Stock points, the highest position still undetermined as the championship battle is over.

Anderson qualified his KB Racing-powered Camaro in the No. 2 position, his best since three consecutive starts from the pole in Indianapolis, Charlotte and St. Louis. On Sunday morning in Las Vegas, he drew Matt Hartford and made the second-quickest pass of the round in the defeat of his challenger, 6.598, 209.14 to 6.676, 207.53.

The second round, however, is where the course of the season was decided. Anderson made a valiant effort with his .026-second reaction time to Vincent Nobile’s .036, but his 6.630, 209.04 was not quite enough to hold off a 6.615, 208.75.

“There were definitely some positives this weekend,” said Anderson. “I did a better job of driving the racecar than I have lately, so we’re making gains on that. We made a couple of decent runs this weekend with my Summit Racing Chevy, we just didn’t make enough of them. We lost our consistency a little bit, and we missed the set-up second round and it cost us.

“But we’re not going to complain about it. I’ve dropped the ball at the last several races, and the bottom line is that we win as a team and we lose as a team. All we can do is pick our heads up, go to the next race, and finish with a bang. We’re so close to being excellent, but you have to put it all together in this class. You can’t have a hiccup – not even a minor one.”

LAS VEGAS, Nev., November 1, 2015 – Jason Line came to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the 15th annual NHRA Nationals intent on capitalizing on previous success at one of the Summit Racing team’s most favored facilities. During qualifying, the driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro stayed focused and ramped up the power to qualify in the No. 4 position, but on Sunday a single round win was well below expectations. For Line, this only means that it’s time to get back up, shake off the dust, and prepare for another round of battle as the 2015 season draws to a conclusion. LAS VEGAS, Nev., October 31, 2015 – Jason Line knew that the great racing surface at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was a great foundation for some spectacular runs after the first day of the 15th annual NHRA Nationals, and he was right. On Saturday at the event, Line and his Summit Racing crew cranked it up a notch and were able to keep themselves positioned on the opposite side of the ladder from KB Racing teammate Greg Anderson, who is currently No. 2 in the Pro Stock points. Line looks forward to even better conditions after good start in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev., October 30, 2015 – Jason Line and the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro are off to a good start at the 15th annual NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Line, a five-time Las Vegas pole sitter, is No. 4 after his first two runs down the racetrack in Las Vegas.

The second-to-last race in the 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship was off and running under sunny skies and with breezy conditions typical to the Nevada desert. Line powered his Summit Racing Camaro to a 6.603-second pass at 208.46 mph that sent him to the No. 4 position.

As conditions improved for the later session, Line was able to make a quicker and faster pass. He sailed smoothly down the racetrack to a 6.600 at 209.07 that was third-quickest of the session and good for a bonus point. He will remain No. 4 for now with two more qualifying sessions scheduled for Saturday before the field is set.

“Anytime you come to one of Bruton Smith’s racetracks, you expect it to be good,” said Line, who was No. 7 in the Pro Stock points entering the event. “The racetrack didn’t let us down today. We didn’t adapt to it as well as we should have, but the racing surface was really good.

“We should have run faster that last run, we just didn’t. But we kind of felt like today’s runs were almost throwaway runs because the conditions will be better tomorrow. The air will be better, and the track is great – so there is definitely room for improvement.”
