Summit Racing–Anderson making strides on first day of NHRA Finals

Anderson making strides on first day of NHRA Finals

POMONA, Calif., November 13, 2015 – The 2015 season of NHRA’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series comes to a close this weekend at the 51st annual Auto Club NHRA Finals, and Greg Anderson is edging for the highest position possible to close the year on a strong note. The first day of qualifying is complete, and the driver of the red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is well in the top half of the field and eager for Day Two and more progress in his Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro.

In the first round of qualifying, Anderson was out of the gate with a 6.537-second pass at a very large speed of 213.30 mph, which would hold as top speed of the meet through the first two sessions.

The later round of qualifying brought Anderson up to the starting line to put down a 6.523, 213.06 in his Summit Racing Camaro. He ended the first day in the No. 7 position.

“We haven’t caught up with the starting line yet,” said Anderson, a five-time NHRA Finals victor. “We were way too lazy with the racecar for those first two runs, but that is a good problem. That means you can be more aggressive, and that is what we will focus on tomorrow. Hopefully, the racetrack will be just as good or better, and we can run faster with my Summit Racing Chevy.

“To put it simple, we have just been too cautious today. It was 79 degrees here, so you wouldn’t have thought that the starting line would be as good as it was. The cars are consistent, now we just need to pull up our big boy pants and get aggressive. The starting line will take a lot more, and that’s great.”
