Richard Childress Racing’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series history at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Richard Childress Racing’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series history at Charlotte Motor Speedway … In 154 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Richard Childress Racing teams have earned seven points-paying victories (four wins with Dale Earnhardt, one with Jeff Burton and two with Kevin Harvick) and four All-Star race victories (three with Earnhardt and one with Harvick), giving RCR 11 total Sprint Cup Series checkered flags at the Concord, N.C.-based track. RCR boasts 21 top-five and 49 top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile track. Childress, a former driver on NASCAR’s senior circuit, contributed two of those top-10 finishes from 1978 to 1979. The Welcome, N.C. organization has led a combined 1,149 laps at the Charlotte facility. Continue reading Richard Childress Racing’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series history at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Austin Dillon and the AAA Team Advance to the Next Round of the Chase with an Eighth-Place Finish at Dover International Speedway

“This AAA team is awesome. We have been working hard as a team, and I have been working hard as a driver to make myself better. This series is very tough, and I think the biggest thing was not giving up. We could have given up in that second practice yesterday when it was raining and drizzling. I got frustrated and just tried to calm myself and believe in what we were doing as a team. Man, we got it done. I’m proud of my team for building a fast race car. RCR, I thank all of you guys back at the shop for working countless hours on these race cars. We were able to make it to the next round. Thanks to AAA, Dow, American Ethanol, Cheerios, all my guys and everybody that helps us out with this program. We’re on to the next round and that means so much for our team.”

Paul Menard Recovers From Speeding Penalty to Finish 22nd at Dover International Speedway

“This wasn’t the afternoon we had in mind today at Dover. The Duracell/Menards Chevrolet had speed this weekend, but starting 26th we knew we had a lot of cars to pass. We kept adjusting on the handling of the car, but the leaders were running such fast laps we fell a lap down. The speeding penalty put us even more laps down and we just didn’t have the cautions we needed to get those laps back.”

– Paul Menard

Ill-Timed Caution and Tire Issues Prove Costly for Ryan Newman and WIX Filters Team

“Unfortunately we had a fast WIX Filters Chevrolet and nothing to show for it today. It was at least a top-10 car. We got caught on pit road when the caution came out early on and that put us down two laps and then we had several tire issues that prevented us from racing back onto the lead lap. It’s pretty frustrating, to say the least, and very disappointing for this team. We had a really good car. Congratulations to the No. 3 team for making the transfer into the next round in the Chase.”

Regan Smith Substitutes in Rain-Delayed NASCAR XFINITY Series Race and Earns a 13th-Place Finish at Dover International Speedway

“I want to first thank Richard Childress Racing for letting me hop in the No. 2 Rheem Chevrolet today. It’s difficult to hop into somebody else’s race without practicing it. With that said, there was a bunch of us that had to do it. We just got really loose in the middle stages of the race. By the time we got it tightened back up, we were already in a bad position and couldn’t make it up. I hate we didn’t have a better run today.”

– Regan Smith

Ty Dillon Finished Runner-Up at Dover, Advances Position in XFINITY Series Chase First Round

“We obviously didn’t want to start in the back and wish we didn’t have those circumstances. But the Red Kap / Sullivan’s Uniform Chevy was super fast today and the guys put me in the best possible position to gain us some points back in the Chase standings. Our pit stops were fast and our balance was great. That’s what championship teams are made of. Perseverance and a ‘never give up’ attitude. We’ll go to Charlotte only three points out now and fight for that transfer position.”

– Ty Dillon

Brandon Jones Finishes 17th at Dover International Speedway in South Point Chevrolet

“We definitely got caught by the caution for the No. 42 car and were trapped a lap down. That didn’t help for sure. The South Point Chevrolet fired off tight and stayed that way all day long. We started off pretty loose in practice and we just tightened it up too much for the race. All in all it wasn’t a terrible day for the South Point Chevrolet, but it definitely wasn’t what we wanted. We have some work to do at Charlotte to keep going in the Chase, but it is still a big accomplishment to be a part of the inaugural XFINITY Series Chase in my rookie year. We’ll keep hammering away and try to advance next week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. That has always been a good track for us.”

– Brandon Jones

The South Point Team Holds Strong with a Ninth-Place Finish at Dover International Speedway

“The South Point Chevy was a little better this week, we should have finished better than ninth. The pit stop calls by Shane (Wilson, crew chief) were excellent. Holding the car longer on pit road in order to pack it full of fuel was the perfect strategy. It allowed us to keep moving forward. We came back from being a lap down, and the team performed flawless on pit road. We look pretty good moving on to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the elimination race. We will continue to bring our best Chevrolet to the track each week during the XFINITY Series Chase. The South Point team never quits, no matter what situation is thrown at us we will adjust, remain calm and keep moving toward our goal. Our goal is to be in the Chase finale at Homestead Miami Speedway. Shane and I know how to adjust and remain consistent, combine that with our excellent pit stops and we have what it takes at Richard Childress Racing to go all the way.”

Ty Dillon and the No. 95 Death Wish Coffee Chevrolet team at Dover International Speedway

Ty Dillon and the No. 95 Death Wish Coffee Chevrolet team at Dover International Speedway … Ty Dillon will be making his first Sprint Cup Series start at the Monster Mile this weekend. However, Dillon is no stranger to Dover International Speedway; he has made seven NASCAR XFINITY Series starts and two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts. His best finish came earlier this year when he drove the No. 3 Rheem Chevrolet Camaro to a fifth-place finish in the XFINITY Series.

About Death Wish Coffee … Death Wish Coffee Company, home of “The World’s Strongest Coffee,” opened its doors in 2012. Death Wish is a mixture of Arabica and Robusta beans artfully blended to provide a high caffeine content with a smooth and dark flavor. The blend was born in the basement of owner, Mike Brown’s, coffee shop Saratoga Coffee Traders in Saratoga Springs, New York. Death Wish Coffee is the No. 1 best-selling coffee on Amazon.com and the top influential coffee brand online according to Market Watch. Death Wish Coffee is sold in over 300 grocery stores in the Northeast and is expanding distribution rapidly domestically and internationally.

Dillon in the Sprint Cup Series … Dillon is scheduled to make his 17th Sprint Cup Series start this weekend in the No. 95 Death Wish Coffee Chevrolet SS for Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing and his 10th of the 2016 season. Dillon has seen time as a back-up driver for Stewart-Haas Racing and Tommy Baldwin Racing, as well as a part-time driver for CSLFR. His best finish came earlier this season in the No. 14 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet SS when he was a relief driver for Tony Stewart, crossing the finish line sixth at Talladega Superspeedway.

TY DILLON QUOTE:
You’ve raced for three different teams this season. What have you learned?
“What a great experience it has been for me this year. My main goal was to just log laps and learn as much as I could about these Cup cars. Experience is everything at this level because you are competing against guys that have been doing it for over 10 years. I think the biggest thing for me has been working with different teams and crew chiefs and understanding how they go about a race weekend. I understand how difficult it is to be successful in this series – you have to work at it. I can’t thank Circle Sport/Leavine Family Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing and Tommy Baldwin Racing enough for the opportunities. If anything, I’ve learned that I can compete at this level and I hope to do so in the near future.”

Austin Dillon and the No. 3 Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Team Give it All They Have to Earn 16th-Place Finish in Second Chase Race of the Season

“Truthfully, that was a heck of a fight today by the No. 3 Pumpkin Spice Cheerios team. We didn’t have a car capable of doing anything all day but we stayed focused and that means more to me than anything because at times this year we haven’t. It wasn’t our day, but we made the best out of the day we had. We are only five points out of the Chase cut off going into Dover International Speedway next week. We struggled all weekend long, but we fought hard. I never gave in, I never gave up, and our team never gave up. They had a heck of a pit stop there to put us in a lucky dog position, which helped us gain some additional points. Now we go to Dover and we’ve given ourselves a shot. We just have to go run well there.”

– Austin Dillon

Paul Menard and the Libman / Menards Chevrolet Team Finish 25th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

“The Libman / Menards Chevrolet fired off decent here at New Hampshire. With that long green-flag run to start the race, I was having to really use the track bar to help the handling of the car. Danny (Stockman, crew chief) and the guys took big swings during our first three stops. The front end of this Chevy just did not feel right, compared to our practices, and we unfortunately went a lap down to the leader around lap 100. We had a plan to get that lap back but the cautions didn’t fall in our favor to see that plan through. This car was much better than a 25th-place result. We’ll keep fighting at Dover next weekend.”

– Paul Menard

Final Restarts Not Ideal for Ryan Newman Resulting in 20th-Place Finish at New Hampshire

“The last two restarts did not go in our favor and cost us valuable track position. I all but got turned around and we were lucky. Unfortunately that killed our momentum which cost us a decent finish. For the most part we were a top-13 car. We were missing a little something today and that’s a shame. We qualified third and was hoping to better our starting spot but we just didn’t have the handling to back it up.”

Sam Hornish Jr. Overcomes Adversity after a Late-Race Incident to Finish Fourth at Kentucky Speedway

“We started the race too loose and used the first couple of pit stops to correct the handling on the No. 2 Rheem Chevrolet. We were racing the (No.) 19 and Daniel (Suarez) drove in a little too deep and forced us up the track and into the wall. With these tires being as hard as they are, as soon as someone gets into the back of you, it’s really hard to get the correction down and get back going. We fixed up the damage and kept digging to get ourselves back into it. I thought we were going to have a chance to win it there at the end. We restarted fifth and was second with three laps to go, but out of nowhere the car got really tight and we ended up fourth. I think getting tight at the end was because of the rear end damage we had. All-in-all I’m really proud of all these guys that work on this team. I’m thankful to Richard Childress and everyone at RCR for giving me this opportunity.”

Late-Race Wreck Collects Dillon after Strong Performance at Kentucky Speedway

“This is obviously not what we wanted tonight especially after how well we started the race, leading a bunch of laps and showing a lot of speed. I thought our WESCO Chevy was capable of winning tonight but we got collected in that wreck with 12 to go. Things like that happen, especially when you’re racing for a win. It makes it even more difficult when there is only one groove to race and everyone is vying for that space. We’ll just do what we’ve done all season and keep moving forward. We’ll go to Dover and try to win the race and advance to the next round of The Chase. We were also racing tonight with some heavy hearts after hearing that one of RCR’s long time employees, Johnny Siler passed away today. He was such a big part of RCR’s success and we’ll miss him greatly.”

– Ty Dillon

Brandon Jones Caught Up In Wreck with Non-Chase Drivers at Kentucky Speedway

“I was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time when the No. 88 and the No. 42 got together. It stinks because looking at the end of the race and how other Chase drivers had trouble at the end, this could have been a race we could have capitalized on. The NIBCO / Menards Chevrolet was a top-five car, if not a car that could have contended for the win. I hate we were caught up in that wreck. The guys on pit road had really good stops again tonight and got us track position early in the race. The entire crew did a great job making repairs and getting us back on the track quickly. We lucked out a bit when a couple of other guys had issues late in the race and we were able to gain spots on them. I will talk to crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. and see how this changes our approach to next week’s race at Dover, but we’ll just try to run in the top five there and maybe contend for the win.”

– Brandon Jones

Brendan Gaughan Continues Success at Kentucky Speedway with Sixth-Place Finish

“We had a strong South Point Chevrolet tonight. The definition of tonight was a war. Shane Wilson (crew chief) and the guys are the definition of perseverance. There is no quit in this team, we passed a ton of cars tonight battling from the back to the front. The best thing about Shane and I is that when things are out of control, or not, we don’t panic. We fix what we can and move forward. We always keep fighting to the end. The guys fought so hard, they had to jump over the wall twice to fix damage. I wanted a top five tonight, but to come away third among the Chase drivers, even with all of the challenges, it’s a win. It’s a heck of a start to the Chase. It’s a narrow groove here, which made for an exciting event. It’s still Kentucky and I love this place. We will take this momentum and move on to Dover.”

Austin Dillon Survives Chicagoland Speedway with 14th-Place Finish in Dow Packaging Chevrolet

“This Dow Packaging Chevrolet was pretty good today. We just never got the track position we needed to contend. I would have liked the race to run green at the end because if we wouldn’t have had that caution, I believe our finish would have been better. In this Chase format, every single position matters. I’m looking forward to New Hampshire and Dover the next two weekends in order to get ourselves in a position to advance to the next round.”

– Austin Dillon

Paul Menard Fights for 21st-Place Finish at Chicagoland Speedway

“It was a crazy start to the race for sure. We were coming down pit road when the first caution came out. There was some confusion there on whether to pit or to keep rolling. Then we got a speeding penalty. When we were trying to recover from that, NASCAR penalized us with a drive-thru for not getting to the tail end of the line fast enough before the restart. In the midst of it all, we were three laps down. After evaluating the situation, NASCAR gave us our lap back. We took the wave around under one caution and raced as hard as we could for the lucky dog position. We threw everything we had at it today. Overall, we had a decent Moen/Menards Chevrolet, but we were just fighting to recover all day. It was not what we wanted out of Chicagoland Speedway today. It was really disappointing.”

– Paul Menard

Tire Issue Results in 19th-Place Finish for Ryan Newman at Chicagoland Speedway

“For the most part we had a pretty good Caterpillar Chevrolet, but we had multiple tire issues today. One, we were able to address during our first scheduled stop but then we had another issue around lap 188. We were forced to come down pit road and unfortunately it put us two laps down. We took the wave around during the next caution and then battled the No. 4 car for the free pass. In the end, it never worked out in our favor for us to race back onto the lead lap. Before that last tire issue, we were racing just outside the top 10. We’ll keep digging with nine races to go.”

Paul Menard and the No. 2 Richmond/Menards Chevy Races Back to a Ninth-Place Finish at Chicagoland Speedway after
Early Tire Incident

“We had an unfortunate start to our day with the flat left rear tire only a few laps into the race. Justin (Alexander, crew chief) made great calls to get us back on the lead lap and back in contention midway through the race. Once we got back on the lead lap, the Richmond/Menards Chevy would fire off tight, then free up on our drive off. We took two right-side tires there at the end and I think we should’ve stayed out. We had to try something, but two tires didn’t work, and now we know. I’m proud of this team and all the hard work they’ve put into this XFINITY Series program. I’ve enjoyed being in the drivers seat.” Continue reading Richard Childress Racing–Chicagoland

Austin Dillon and Dow Team Claim a Chase Berth with a 13th-Place Finish at Richmond

“I’m just proud of our effort, our team, everything we went through this year. We shouldn’t have been in this situation. We had good enough cars to not have to be in this situation, but, hey, we were in a tight situation down to the end. Especially, with the No. 5 up there near the end, but we were racing the No. 1 all night, we did our job, we stayed in that buffer. I’m proud to be here. I’m just excited. The stress level is off of me. I’m not going to take stress into the Chase. I’m going to go have fun and try to win, look at it with no pressure situation. I can’t thank everyone at Dow enough for all of their support over the last three years. I’m proud to be in this Chase.”

Contact With Another Car Ends Paul Menard’s Night Early in the Dutch Boy Menards Chevrolet at Richmond

“This was not how we wanted to end the night here at Richmond. We had a good Dutch Boy / Menards Chevrolet and worked our way through the field pretty well after starting 30th. We were fighting inside the top 15 when we were hit and sent into the wall. The damage was just too much to continue. We’ll go on to Chicagoland and see what we can do there.”

Chase Bid for Ryan Newman and Caterpillar Team Ends After Accident While Running in the Top 10

“I’m fine. I think it was pretty obvious watching the video. I don’t even have to watch it. The No. 14 (Tony Stewart) cut across my nose into Turn 1 and I got into him after that, but he’d already chopped into me and messed up my line and I clipped him a little bit coming off of (Turn) 2; but he just cut across my nose. We’ll keep fighting like we always do. It’s just unfortunate not to end the way we wanted to. I want to thank Caterpillar, Grainger, WIX Filters and everybody else who helps put this on. But, it’s just disappointing. It’s tough. We will keep fighting for a victory. It’s what we are here for.”

Austin Dillon Starts on the Pole and Earns Seventh-Place Finish Under the Lights at Richmond International Raceway

“I’m proud of this Ruud team. If someone would have asked me where I’d get my next pole, I definitely wouldn’t have thought Richmond, so that was pretty cool. The tires just didn’t come in as good after the first stop. We fired off pretty good, just a little loose on entry. Once the tires came in, the entry was better but we fought tight in the center. Justin (Alexander, crew chief) and the Ruud team fixed us up on the second stop, but it wasn’t quite enough. We had a car that could have won, but track position is everything here. The Ruud guys deserved better than a seventh-place finish.” Continue reading Austin Dillon Starts on the Pole and Earns Seventh-Place Finish Under the Lights at Richmond International Raceway

Up and Down Night for Austin Dillon and the American Ethanol Team at Darlington Raceway Results in 12th-Place Finish

“What a race! We fell behind early with a drive-through penalty for speeding on pit road during a pit stop. I guess there is an elevation change leading into our pit box but I can’t really make any excuse. It happens. I made a mistake and we dug ourselves out. Then, on a green-flag stop I overshot the pit stall a little bit. There were a lot of green flag runs tonight, which was good because our American Ethanol Chevy was good on long runs. All-in-all we just have to have a clean race at Richmond International Raceway next weekend in order to make it into the Chase for the Sprint Cup. We’ve put ourselves into position to have a shot. Whatever happens at Richmond happens there. I have confidence in this team.” Continue reading Richard Childress Racing–Southern 500

Cut Tire Derails Paul Menard’s Strong Run at Darlington Raceway

“We had a really loose Richmond/Menards Chevy today. The team did a great job on pit road all day and Justin (Alexander, crew chief) kept making adjustments to make gains where we needed them. The caution falling while we were on pit road hurt us. And we couldn’t really recover our position. We over adjusted there at the end and were too tight. With five laps to go, we cut a right-side tire and had to pit. I’m looking forward to our final XFINITY Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.”

– Paul Menard

Dillon Clinches Spot in Inaugural XFINITY Series Chase Playoff by Finishing 12th at Darlington Raceway

“The guys on pit road today were solid. I think we picked up four or five positions from fast stops which is always key to a good race. We caught a little bad luck there at the end with the caution coming out right after I got off of pit road. Overall, our No. 3 Ruud Chevrolet was pretty fast. We’re happy to be locked into the Chase and it sort of puts us in a cool position for next weekend at Richmond where we can hopefully race for just the win and not have to worry about points.”

– Ty Dillon

Brandon Jones Earns 10th Top-10 Finish of Rookie Year in His First Darlington Start

“That was a solid day. Going into the weekend, I was thinking that a top-10 finish would be a good day for not seeing this place and coming to Darlington Raceway for the first time. It is good to get back in the swing of things and get another top-10 finish. I pancaked the right side of the No. 33 Project: Time Off/visitmyrtlebeach.com Chevrolet a couple times and got my Darlington Stripe. I usually say that my favorite tracks are the ones I’ve won at, but Darlington has certainly been added to the list. It was cool to see a Chevrolet get the win. I wish it was a RCR Chevy, but it is good to see the manufacturer back in Victory Lane.”

Gaughan Battles Loose Handling Royal Inn Casino Chevrolet at Darlington Raceway to Finish 16th

“It was just a rough day all in all. Practice went well, however I thought we would be better in the race. The track kept changing in the heat of the day, and Shane (Wilson, crew chief) made changes trying to keep up with the ‘Lady in Black.’ I got caught speeding on pit road, which cost us the wave around. The team did an excellent job on stops keeping the Royal Inn Casino Chevrolet moving forward. I can only blame myself for the track position hole we were in. We should have been a seventh- or eighth-place car today. This throwback weekend is the coolest thing that NASCAR does. I really enjoyed having my father’s throwback paint scheme, as well as his name on the car. It’s a great thing how everyone gets involved, from the sponsors, to the guys in the garage with mustaches and mutton chops. Darlington is a special place and it’s always fun here. We will lick our wounds and move on to Richmond International Raceway under the lights.”

Austin Dillon Leads a Lap at Michigan International Speedway in Cheerios Chevrolet as he Continues Quest to Make Chase for the Sprint Cup

Austin Dillon Leads a Lap at Michigan International Speedway in Cheerios Chevrolet as he Continues Quest to Make Chase for the Sprint Cup

“We struggled throughout our practice sessions this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, especially compared to last time we were here when we were one of the fastest cars at the track right out of the trailer. Still, all of the guys on the No. 3 Cheerios team worked really hard and I was really encouraged heading into Sunday. During the race, the car just wasn’t very good on takeoff but we excelled on long runs. We posted some of the fastest lap times of the race at the end of runs. I wish we had a little bit more today but overall, we’re still looking good in the point standings and even stayed out to lead a lap today. Our goal remains the same–to win a race and make it into the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Hopefully, we can do that at Darlington Raceway next weekend.”

Paul Menard Finishes 18th at Michigan International Speedway in the Sylvania / Menards Chevrolet SS

“We had a good Sylvania / Menards Chevrolet today. Danny (Stockman, crew chief) and the No. 27 team worked hard all weekend and it showed during parts of the race. We struggled early on during a run, but this Chevy got significantly better on the longer green flag stints. On that last restart we were just too tight, and fell back a few positions crossing the line in 18th-place. We definitely deserved a top-10 today. I’m looking forward to Darlington this upcoming weekend, and honoring Al Unser, Jr. with our Valvoline / Menards throwback scheme.”

Final Restart Results in Top-20 Finish at Michigan International Speedway for Ryan Newman and the Freightliner Team

“Luke Lambert and the Freightliner team definitely improved our Chevy over the course of today’s race. They worked hard all race long to adjust to the slick conditions that were out there. We raced in the top-16 for the first half of the race but then made big gains to climb into the top-10 and to be honest, that’s really what I was expecting for our finish. On the final restart, we lined up 11th in the low line and it really hurt us. The line stalled and it resulted in a sub-par finishing position. We were a much better car than 17th. I’m looking forward to Darlington Raceway next week. It’s my favorite track so I hope it’s where we can clinch a Chase spot.”

Richard Childress Racing–Road America

Michael McDowell and the Rheem Chevrolet Team are Victorious at Road America

McDowell earns first NASCAR victory, No. 2 Rheem team earns second consecutive win and RCR captures third consecutive victory at Road America

“This win means so much to me. I’ve been close here at Road America so many different times and to finally get the win, it feels great. I can’t thank Rheem and Richard Childress Racing enough for this opportunity. It’s not every week you get a call to come drive equipment like this. I’ve been able to drive a lot of great cars here but haven’t been able to execute and get the win, but today we did. I was dreading the last two restarts. It happens here. You build up a good lead and the caution comes out then you have to fight for it on the restarts. I was trying to be really disciplined today by saving my tires for a green-white-checkered finish. I was anticipating there being a late-race caution, so I tried to learn a lot of the other cautions to be able to get a good restart. Brendan (Gaughan) did a great job and I had fun racing him for the lead at the end. It’s awesome for RCR to have two teams battling for the win. Thank you to everyone at RCR and everybody on this Rheem team. This is great.”

Ty Dillon Overcomes Late-Race Struggles, Battles to a 12th-place Finish at Road America

“We got off to a great start and I felt like we had a top-five Bosch Chevrolet Camaro. Later in the race though, I wasn’t able to get into the braking zones like some of the other guys could and it really hurt us. This race is really a lot about surviving, keeping good track position and not getting run off course. We got pushed off by the 88 car towards the end and it forced us to pit under green costing us track position. We were able to fight for a 12th-place finish there at the end with a few late race passes. Congratulations to the No. 2 team and Michael McDowell on their win today.”

Brandon Jones Recovers to a 16th-place Result After Late-Race Spin at Road America

“We can finally go race now that the road course portion of the season is over. I definitely felt like Road America was our best road course of the three we have run this year. If we hadn’t been wrecked there at the end of the race, I thought we would have come home with a top-10 finish. This M-D Building Products/Menards team did a great job all weekend long. I can’t thank all of my RCR teammates enough for helping me out through this road course streak that we’ve had here in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, I think it showed for sure there at the end. Congrats to Michael and Brendan for their great runs today. Wish we had a clean car to go after it there at the end, but all-in-all a good day for the M-D Building Products/Menards team.

Brendan Gaughan Continues Momentum with Second-Place Finish at Road America

“I love this track. I’ve been saying it all along. Whether it was wet or dry, I didn’t care either way. I love this track. Our South Point Chevrolet was absolutely unbelievable in the braking zones today. What Richard Childress Racing does with our brake systems is absolutely amazing. I could out-brake anyone in the field. Man, I wanted to win this race so bad. I love Michael McDowell. I know it is RCR going for three wins in a row here at Road America, but I wanted to win this thing. This track means so much to me. I gave it all I could. I gave it one last-ditch effort in Turn 14 and just couldn’t keep the power down on the straightaway and had to come home second. Way to go RCR, finishing first and second, and getting three wins in a row here at Road America. We like taking this trophy home.”
