Regan Smith Substitutes in Rain-Delayed NASCAR XFINITY Series Race and Earns a 13th-Place Finish at Dover International Speedway

“I want to first thank Richard Childress Racing for letting me hop in the No. 2 Rheem Chevrolet today. It’s difficult to hop into somebody else’s race without practicing it. With that said, there was a bunch of us that had to do it. We just got really loose in the middle stages of the race. By the time we got it tightened back up, we were already in a bad position and couldn’t make it up. I hate we didn’t have a better run today.”

Ty Dillon Finished Runner-Up at Dover, Advances Position in XFINITY Series Chase First Round

“We obviously didn’t want to start in the back and wish we didn’t have those circumstances. But the Red Kap / Sullivan’s Uniform Chevy was super fast today and the guys put me in the best possible position to gain us some points back in the Chase standings. Our pit stops were fast and our balance was great. That’s what championship teams are made of. Perseverance and a ‘never give up’ attitude. We’ll go to Charlotte only three points out now and fight for that transfer position.”

Brandon Jones Finishes 17th at Dover International Speedway in South Point Chevrolet

“We definitely got caught by the caution for the No. 42 car and were trapped a lap down. That didn’t help for sure. The South Point Chevrolet fired off tight and stayed that way all day long. We started off pretty loose in practice and we just tightened it up too much for the race. All in all it wasn’t a terrible day for the South Point Chevrolet, but it definitely wasn’t what we wanted. We have some work to do at Charlotte to keep going in the Chase, but it is still a big accomplishment to be a part of the inaugural XFINITY Series Chase in my rookie year. We’ll keep hammering away and try to advance next week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. That has always been a good track for us.”

The South Point Team Holds Strong with a Ninth-Place Finish at Dover International Speedway

“The South Point Chevy was a little better this week, we should have finished better than ninth. The pit stop calls by Shane (Wilson, crew chief) were excellent. Holding the car longer on pit road in order to pack it full of fuel was the perfect strategy. It allowed us to keep moving forward. We came back from being a lap down, and the team performed flawless on pit road. We look pretty good moving on to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the elimination race. We will continue to bring our best Chevrolet to the track each week during the XFINITY Series Chase. The South Point team never quits, no matter what situation is thrown at us we will adjust, remain calm and keep moving toward our goal. Our goal is to be in the Chase finale at Homestead Miami Speedway. Shane and I know how to adjust and remain consistent, combine that with our excellent pit stops and we have what it takes at Richard Childress Racing to go all the way.”
