Menard Steers His Way To Sixth-Place Finish At Kansas

Menard Steers His Way To Sixth-Place Finish At Kansas

May 13, 2018

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Menards/Atlas team put a couple of disappointing weekends in the rear-view mirror on Saturday night at Kansas Speedway. The team rebounded in a big way by qualifying among the top 12 and coming away with a sixth-place finish in the KC Masterpiece 400.

The entire race weekend played out drama-free for the team, just as Menard hoped it would.

“It was just an uneventful race and a solid weekend,” he said in his post-race comments. “We had good preparation with the car, good [pit] stops, good adjustments.” Continue reading Menard Steers His Way To Sixth-Place Finish At Kansas

Austin Dillon and SYMBICORT® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dihydrate)Team Leave Kansas Speedway With Top-20 Finish

“We had a challenging night at Kansas Speedway as we battled a lack of grip and handling issues, but I am proud of this Richard Childress Racing team because they never give up. We hit a snag in the race during a green flag pit stop. Our car was gurgling in the middle of three and four and I panicked. I came down pit road too abruptly and earned us a commitment line violation. We could have made it another lap and we ended up multiple laps down. We kept digging and we were able to earn back one of our laps when the caution came out with 30 laps remaining but didn’t have enough laps left in the race to get back on the lead lap. It wasn’t the race we wanted but we’ll take this 17th-place finish. This team doesn’t give up. I want to thank AstraZeneca, and their SYMBICORT® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dihydrate) brand for sticking with us.”

Ryan Newman Collected in Late-Race Accident Costing Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Team a Top-10 Finish at Kansas Speedway

“We definitely rebounded from last week and for that, I am proud of this Bass Pro Shops / Cabela’s team. We were competitive and made it into the top five. Our strategy of not pitting was a good call. I think we could have come home with at least a top-10 finish. We were just an innocent bystander when they crashed underneath me, in front of me and just got all wadded up. I had no place to go. It’s just unfortunate. To get 14 laps from the end and tear up a bunch of cars like that just kind of stinks.”

DRIVER QUOTES:

WILL POWER, NO. 12 VERIZON TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET, RACE WINNER: BEFORE THIS RACE STARTED, YOU SAID YOU REALLY NEEDED TO HAVE A GREAT RACE. YOU HAD TO MANAGE FUEL AND TIRES AND PATIENCE. HOW GRATIFYING IS IT FOR YOU TO PULL OFF THIS WIN?
“Yeah, it was an amazing race actually. Obvioulsy, Wickens (Robert) came out on reds and I was on blacks and man, I’ve never driven so hard to watch a gap grow. But, obviously when I went to the reds, then I had to try to pass him back. And then, he had to save a lot of fuel at the end and go fast; because I knew how good (Scott) Dixon is at saving fuel and going fast. But the Chevy had great fuel mileage, and I’ve never driven so hard for an entire race. Like I was 100 percent the whole time. I’m exhausted.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Indycar Grandprix–Post Race Quotes

Menard Looking For Drama-Free Race At Kansas

Menard Looking For Drama-Free Race At Kansas

May 9, 2018

For Paul Menard and the crew of his No. 21 Ford Fusion, the past two weeks have been ones of great potential and bitter disappointment.

At Talladega Superspeedway, he ran among the leaders early and often, winning Stage Two, leading eight laps and picking up 16 stage points only to be swept up in a multi-car crash not of his own making.

At Dover International Speedway, he had another fast Ford, topping the speed chart in the opening practice, then saw his march forward undone by a lengthy trip to the garage to have a damaged hub replaced. Continue reading Menard Looking For Drama-Free Race At Kansas
