Cadillac at Detroit: Street work upcoming

Three Cadillac V-Series.R GTP entries seek to make up ground in 100-minute raceDETROIT (May 30, 2025) – Cadillac Racing’s three Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) entries in Saturday’s Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic will have to contend with traffic from the outset to climb to the front of the pack.
And they’ll have to do it efficiently in a 100-minute sprint on a tight and bumpy 1.654-mile, nine-turn temporary street circuit around the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit to contend for the victory in the fifth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Jack Aitken, who topped the practice 1 time sheet among the 11 GTP entries, led the Cadillac Racing contingent with a best lap of 1 minute, 06.835 seconds in the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R for seventh on the grid in the 100-minute race.
The No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R driven by Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque qualified eighth. Louis Deletraz, who will share driving duties with Jordan Taylor in the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R, qualified ninth.
Both GTP entries lost their quickest qualifying lap because of causing a red flag in practice – the No. 40 in the initial session and the No. 10 in the second — according to IMSA rules. Albuquerque posted a second-best lap of 13 total of 1:06.916. Deletraz’s second-best was 1:07.553.
The No. 93 Acura ARX-06 earned its first pole of the season with a best lap of 1:05.762.
Jordan and Ricky Taylor have combined for nine sports car racing victories on temporary street circuits in Detroit (Belle Isle and downtown). Ricky Taylor and Albuquerque won the race in 2024 with another manufacturer.
A Cadillac DPi won four races and was runner-up in the other at Detroit (Belle Isle) since joining IMSA prototype competition in 2017. There was no race in 2020 because of the pandemic and the GTP class did not compete on the downtown street course in 2023.
Peacock will provide flag-to-flag coverage in the U.S. at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday (internationally via IMSA.TV and IMSA Official YouTube channel). IMSA Radio will broadcast the race live at IMSA.com, XM 206 and SiriusXM Online 996.

What they’re saying
No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R
Filipe Albuquerque: “Great effort from the team. I think we did a good lap that was P4, which was only three-tenths off pole position, and the same position that we started last year. Unfortunately, I made a mistake in FP2 that caused a red flag. So, that lap was deleted. And because I got traffic as well in qualifying, I couldn’t do a second great lap. It’s heartbreaking a little bit. I feel sorry for the team because it’s completely on me that mistake. We are between walls trying to search for the limit and it happens.”
No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R
Jack Aitken: “I think the car was not bad. Just searching for a bit more pace in general. We did make some changes, which would have been nice to preview in FP2, and if we had another stab it I think we could have been even better. We’re going to make the best of it tomorrow and, as they say, anything can happen.”
No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R
Louis Deletraz: “Tough qualifying and not the result we expected. We have some work to do in the race. It’s tough to pass, so we’ll probably do some different strategy and try to work our way to the front. The Cadillacs run well over bumps and it’s very bumpy here, so we can try to attack and make some good overtakes tomorrow for bringing that Cadillac at home at the front.”
