Cadillac looks to scale heights at Spa

Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA confident heading to free flowing circuit in BelgiumDETROIT (May 5, 2025) – Will Stevens is looking to take the No. 12 Hypercar to Victory Lane for the second consecutive year in the TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa.
Driver, car number and core team remain the same as the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, with JOTA Sport undergoing an off-season makeover from privateer to works team with the Cadillac 5.5-liter DOHC V8 engine as the backbone of the Hypercar entries.
Change has abounded, but the primary goal of victory holds consistent.
Stevens will partner with Alex Lynn and Norman Nato to drive the No. 12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R this weekend in the third race of the WEC. The companion No. 38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R is driven by Earl Bamber, Sebastien Bourdais and Jenson Button.
Stevens and Callum Ilott triumphed last May on the 7.004-kilometer (4.532-mile), 19-turn Spa-Francorchamps circuit in a 1-hour, 44-minute run to the checkers following a lengthy red flag. The drivers were the first duo line-up to win a top class WEC race since 2014 and were the first all-British winners since 2017.
Hertz Team JOTA scored its first outright WEC victory as well as the first for a privateer entry in the Hypercar era.
“For me, it was one of our greatest wins as we didn’t have the fastest car on that day, but we did have the boldest strategy which is what won us the race,” said Sam Hignett, founder and director of JOTA Sport, which is celebrating its 25th year in motorsport.

“That said, the result did pile on a lot of pressure going into Le Mans.”
The lone Cadillac V-Series.R entry in the 2024 race qualified second and had good pace before retiring on Lap 95 of 141 because of contact.
“We saw the Cadillac was good there last year and the fast, flowing nature of Spa should suit us,” Hignett added. “The big unknown is that some areas have been resurfaced since we were all last there.”
In its WEC Spa debut in 2023, the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R (Bamber, Lynn, Richard Westbrook) placed fifth after qualifying fourth. The Cadillac Racing trio went on to earn a podium in the next race at Le Mans. Hertz Team JOTA placed sixth in the 2023 race after qualifying seventh.
What they’re saying

Alex Lynn: “We know we have a lot of tracks coming up that suit our car and package, so we look forward to that. I think for any race driver to go to Spa is an honor, it’s a privilege and a track that I personally have always done well at. This car goes well there as well, so we’re going to continue to work hard and look forward to going there.”
Norman Nato: “We want to come back stronger. I think Spa is a track that should fit our car better, but again it’s a new team, a new project so it’s really important that race after race we make progress and that’s what we’re going to try to do for Spa.”
Will Stevens: (2024 victory) “Winning as a customer team was a really special moment for us as JOTA. It was obviously a chaotic race with the red flag and everything that went on, but I think we executed a good strategy to ultimately win the race. It was a nice achievement to get the first overall win in WEC for us. So, it will be cool going back to Spa. (about 2025) “It’s a circuit as drivers that we love driving it and it’s a track that we know the Cadillac has run strongly there before. So, I think it’s a track that will suit us much better than Imola, so hopefully we can head into the race weekend with confidence that we are going to turn up with a better package and be competitive and be at the front again. I think the fact that it was resurfaced last year it seems to have high grip, so I imagine the pace of the circuit is going to be quicker than what we experienced last year. And I think the high-grip nature that we are expecting should suit the Cadillac pretty well. Overall, the team is optimistic and looking forward to the challenge of going back to Spa.”No. 38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R
Earl Bamber: “Hopefully we can regroup at Spa, where we saw the car was quite good last year. We qualified second and had a quick car throughout the weekend. I’m looking forward to going back to Spa to challenge for the podium.”
Sebastien Bourdais: “I think we tend to do better where the grip is higher, so hopefully we can find something. Imola is a very specific track with curb riding and you have to make a lot of compromises on platform and everything. Spa is more of a straightforward exercise, and we’ll look to find a happy balance for everybody and get a clean weekend where can go race.”Jenson Button: “Lots of info from Imola to take on board and hopefully come out in Spa swinging and stronger. The car seemed to work well there last year, which is good to see, and JOTA did a great job there last year winning the race. Lots of great memories and hopefully we can bring that all together and have a good race.”
