DYSON LOOKS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT ROAD ATLANTA TRANS AM WIN

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 20, 2024) – Chris Dyson has won four of the past six Trans Am by Pirelli races at Road Atlanta, three from the pole, including the past two years. The three-time defending series champion is looking to continue that winning streak as he looks to bounce back with his #16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang from a disappointing incident last month at the 2024 series opener at Sebring. A collision while going for the lead in the race’s first turn relegated Dyson to an eighth-place finish.

“It was not the way we’d planned to start the season,” Dyson said. “But last year we finished 10th at Sebring and then came back to win the next two races, including Road Atlanta.”

With those two wins, along with a pair of runner-up finishes at Lime Rock Park and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and then a third win at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course Dyson established a strong lead in the point standing that he then expanded over the final five races of the season.

Dyson is looking to duplicate that performance, but he predicts it will be even more challenging than last season.

“The team had to dig hard the rest of the first half of the 2023 season,” Dyson said. “We had some tough competition; this season with Paul Menard and Wally Dallenbach finishing first and second at Sebring and looking like they will both be in the running the whole season, we’ve got out work cut out for us.  Last year our car was really quite good at Road Atlanta, and with some of the improvements we’ve made in the interim the whole team is excited to see a strong performance this weekend.”
