Cruz Pedregon–Sonoma Advance

NHRA® Team Report
Sonoma Nationals – Sonoma
Pre-Race Report

On the heels of the team’s strongest finish of the season, Cruz Pedregon is headed to Sonoma with his eye on a win and a spot in the Countdown. “We finally showed what we could do on race day with E1 and E2,” says Pedregon. “We raced smart but misjudged the track a little on E3. Even so, we held the number 1 spot until Q4 with no major damage to parts.”

Pedregon, a consistently strong high-altitude racer, has been holding his own on low level tracks this year, too, making this weekend in Sonoma look promising.

“We had a great tune coming into the race,” says Crew Chief Glenn Huszar. “We’re ready to get back to sea level in Sonoma, and it’s going to be fast.”

After having a great run in Denver while unashamedly sporting Raiders gear, Oakland fan Pedregon is more ready than ever to secure a win this weekend in Northern California, which he proudly calls “Raiders country.” It’s the perfect combination of elements for a great race in Sonoma.

“We’re pushing for qualifying and round win points to reel in that top 10 Countdown spot,” Cruz says. “Getting to the semis and sitting in 11th makes us even more intent on getting a win. We’ve got a good feeling about this week and we’re ready to show off what this car can do.”

Check out Cruz’s car this week and you’ll see the name of area Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Josh Borgett. Josh started his career as a heavy-duty truck technician and has owned his Snap-on franchise for over 15 years. He says he went with the best because he only used Snap-on when he was a tech. When he’s calling on customers each week, he says cordless power tools are hot right now. Josh has been a regular at the track for years and says Top Fuel and Funny Car are his favorite because “it’s all about the horsepower.”
