Giovanni Scelzi Preparing for World of Outlaws Races in Chico and Stockton

Inside Line Promotions – TULARE, Calif. (March 12, 2019) – Sometimes in motor sports a race is simply chalked up as a bad night.

A driver takes any positive he or she can and moves on, which is exactly what Giovanni Scelzi has done from last Saturday’s World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series show at Thunderbowl Raceway.

Scelzi and Roth Motorsports struggled throughout a tricky night that was hampered by continuous mist and rain showers, culminating with an early exit in the A Main follow a crash.

“That’s just racing,” he said. “You move on and look forward, which is what we’re doing at this weekend’s races.”

Scelzi and team will return to action this Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., during the Silver Dollar Shootout presented by Reibes NAPA Auto Parts and Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. Both races are World of Outlaws events, beginning on Friday at a quarter-mile bullring.

“It’s two places I like and two good tracks when the surface is good,” he said. “I’m hoping we have two good finishes. I haven’t been to Chico in a while. I feel like I’ve gotten more comfortable on bigger tracks, like 3/8 mile and bigger, in the last year. Bernie (Stuebgen) has worked more on big tracks and I’ve raced more on small tracks so that should help.”

Scelzi’s lone victory this year came on a small oval in Australia with Stuebgen turning the wrenches.

“It was pretty small track similar to Silver Dollar Speedway,” Scelzi said. “It always helps to find anything that gives you extra confidence. Being home in California is good and going to tracks I’ve seen helps. Hopefully it all comes together this weekend and we can contend for two good finishes.”
