Dominic Scelzi Excited for Elbows-Up Opportunity at Thunderbowl This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – LAS VEGAS (March 6, 2019) – Dominic Scelzi is heading to one of his favorite tracks this weekend when the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series visits Thunderbowl Raceway.

The semi-banked oval located in Tulare, Calif., welcomes ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ this Friday and Saturday. Scelzi will be behind the wheel of his family owned No. 41s.

“I always look forward to racing in Tulare,” he said. “We have a lot of laps around that track and we’ve done well there. Last year’s World of Outlaws race is definitely a confidence booster for our team as we go back this weekend.”

Scelzi was stout during last year’s lone Outlaws race at Thunderbowl Raceway, where he qualified second quickest in his group and third best out of 43 drivers before winning a heat race, placing eighth in the dash and rallying for a fourth-place finish in the A Main.

Scelzi and his team competed with the Outlaws last Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas, which hosted the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown presented by Star Nursery.

Scelzi qualified 14th quickest in his group both nights. A seventh-place result in a heat race on Wednesday relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown, a race that he finished eighth in to end the night. He picked up a pair of positions in a heat race on Thursday to finish fifth and make the A Main. Unfortunately, he was caught up in an early crash and was unable to finish the race.

“It was just one of those weeks that didn’t go our way,” he said. “It was disappointing, but the great thing about racing is that the next opportunity to compete isn’t far away. Hopefully the weather is good this weekend and we can get two races in at a track where we’ve run well.”

Last Saturday’s King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series season opener rained out at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif.
