Six Honda Civic Si Race Cars Featured in TC America Season Opener
• Six Honda Performance Development Honda Civic Si’s in 17-car TCA field at Circuit of the America

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (February 28, 2019) – Honda Performance Development (HPD) and Red Line Synthetic Oil, a leading supplier of high-performance synthetic lubricants and additives, will kick off the 2019 SRO Motorsports TC America Series with six new Honda Civic Si TCA entries. This bumper crop of turnkey, current-generation Honda Civic Si race cars, engineered by HPD, is a direct result of the success achieved in 2018, with driver Tom O’Gorman winning the Pirelli World Challenge TCA Drivers’ Championship, and is a testament to the Civic Si as a dynamic and proven racing platform that is affordable and fun to drive. After extensive testing by HPD, each vehicle will run Red Line’s Professional-Series oils throughout the season.

The HPD Civic Si race car is built from the HPD Civic Body-in-White that debuted at the 2016 SEMA show. HPD includes a full complement of race-tested performance parts developed by running the car during the past two seasons in the Pirelli World Challenge, and provides technical support and documentation through its HPD Racing Line program. In addition to the SRO TC America TCA class, the HPD Civic Si is also eligible to run in SCCA T3 and NASA H2 classes.
The complete race car is priced at $52,500 (excluding delivery) and includes an installed roll cage, HPD-developed and homologated parts including engine, suspension, exhaust, and electronics packages. Once the car builds are completed, the engines are filled with Red Line Synthetic Oil’s Professional-Series lubricant. The company is the Official Lubricant Partner of the Honda Racing Line program and provided technical support throughout the production of the vehicles. Each car is delivered with additional quarts of Red Line Synthetic Oil, sufficient for the first oil change, to ensure that the engines can run at their maximum potential.
Red Line’s Professional-Series oils are API SN PLUS approved and are specifically designed to combat low-speed pre-ignition in gasoline direct-injection (GDI) engines, while maintaining the highest allowable tolerances permitted within the OEM/API certification guidelines. The oils are compatible with both low- and high-mileage engines and designed to help maintain vehicles throughout their lifetime.

The modern TCA Civic Si is an ideal race car for competitors stepping up to the next level of Touring Car racing. Sally McNulty, a fixture on the Time Attack circuit and a 2019 rookie TCA driver, decided to apply her on-track racing skills in wheel-to-wheel competition, getting her race training at the Skip Barber Racing School and earning her TC America Racing License.
“I’ve seen the success that Tom O’Gorman had last year, and I really wanted a reliable and competitive car to race in my first year in TC America,” she said. “I felt comfortable in my Borla HPD Civic Si right away and can’t wait to get out on the grid at the first race at the Circuit of the Americas!”
The first TC America TCA 2019 race kicks off at 3:40 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 1. The SRO Motorsports race weekend includes the GT America class, featuring cars like the Acura NSX GT3, and the TCR class featuring the Honda Civic Type R TCR race car. All of these race vehicles are available through Honda Performance Development.
