Dominic Scelzi Starting 2019 Season Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2019) – Dominic Scelzi kicks off his season early this year as one of his favorite tracks will host an event this weekend.

Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., has a 360ci winged sprint car show on tap Saturday. It’s a track where Scelzi has four feature triumphs, including winning the 3rd annual Jimmy Sills Classic last year.

“I’m probably more excited than anybody,” he said. “I like it because it’s a little bit bigger of a track. Racing on the big tracks like I have the last few years helps. You have four different corners at Stockton. In turn one you almost have to cheat the entry if you’re running the top. Turn two is sweeping until the exit and then it’s real tight. The back straightaway is an important part of the track because there is a crest. A lot of guys get over it and lose momentum. You get into turn three and it’s sweeping as well and has the most banking on the track and then turn four is flat. It’s a very technical track. There is a lot to getting around that place and for whatever reason I’ve done a good job of it.”

Scelzi is coming off his career-best season, winning six races and earning a bid into the Knoxville Nationals A Main by capturing his first career victory at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, during the SPEED SPORT World Challenge. He is hopeful that momentum will carry over into 2019.

“I’m looking forward to knocking the rust off,” he said. “We had a great year last year and really have had great seasons the last couple of years so I can’t wait to get 2019 started.”

Scelzi also recently announced he will spend part of his season racing for Roth Motorsports. However, he will be in his family owned No. 41 this Saturday.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities in both our family car and with Roth Motorsports this year and I anticipate a lot of success in both cars,” he said. “I want to thank my family and our partners for the continued support as well as Dennis and Teresa Roth, Todd Ventura and everyone at Roth for giving me a ride this year.”
