TEAM CHEVY NOTES & QUOTES:
WILLIAM BYRON, NO. 24 HENDRICK AUTOGUARD CAMARO ZL1 – Qualified 9th
NICE QUALIFYING EFFORT FOR YOU AND YOUR TEAM TODAY AT TEXAS. TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING RUN:
“Yeah, it was good. We haven’t had a qualifying effort like that in a little bit, so it’s been good to get that and hopefully that translates to the race pretty good. So, it was fun.”

HOW DID THE TRACK CHANGE FROM PRACTICE TO QUALIFYING?
“I think it just kept picking up grip each round. You kind of drover it the same or at least I did, it just kept picking up grip all throughout the rounds, just had to adjust for that.”

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 KELLEY BLUE BOOK CAMARO ZL1 – Qualified 16th
SOME ISSUES WITH THE LANDING, EXACTLY WHAT DOES THAT MEAN WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THAT?
“Yeah, just couldn’t drive into (Turn) 1 like I wanted to or didn’t do it or whatever, but yeah, we have kind of fought some of the similar things throughout practice and didn’t go real fast. Just unfortunate. I had a terrible qualifying effort in Martinsville too and with the way these stage points are that was a really strong suit of ours last fall. We qualified really good in these last 10 and that was what kind of kept us going through the rounds, so yeah, you’ve got to qualify good to get those stage points. That last lap helped some, so we will try to move forward on Sunday.”

AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 DOW NORKOOL CAMARO ZL1 – Qualified 26th
WHEN QUALIFYING AT TEXAS, HOW MUCH IS IT ABOUT ‘COMMITMENT’?
“It’s a lot about that, but it’s also about finesse in certain ways. Like you can be over-aggressive and get through that right front tire real quick. We are kind of experimenting this week and trying something a little different; and working hard to get it right. I felt like it was pretty decent in practice. But we were too tight right there. We haven’t qualified well for a while now, but we’ve raced well in the past. So, we’ll just come up through the field on Sunday like we usually do.”

IS THIS EXPERIMENTING TO LEARN MORE IN GENERAL ABOUT 1.5 MILE TRACKS AND MAYBE HELP YOU OUT AT HOMESTEAD?
“Yeah, it would definitely help us out at Homestead. It’s just a new package that we’re trying.”
