BOWTIE BULLETS
LEADER OF THE PACK: Seven-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) champion and career-long Chevrolet driver, Jimmie Johnson, is the leader of the pack at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS). Johnson has seven wins, 15 top-five’s and 21 top-10 finishes, more than any other driver in the series.

BACK WHERE IT ALL BEGAN: The all-new Camaro ZL1 is the first Chevrolet racecar to have no on-track testing before making its season debut. In January, at a Goodyear Tire Test, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver, Chase Elliott took the new ZL1 out for its first laps around a racetrack at TMS. Since those laps, the Camaro ZL1 earned its first victory in the season-opening Daytona 500 with Austin Dillon taking the moniker to its first Victory Lane celebration. Since then, Chase Elliott has collected three more wins for the Camaro ZL1 at Watkins Glen, Dover and most recently at Kansas Speedway.

PACING THE FIELD: Chevrolet has a long-standing tradition with TMS. From the time when the first race at the venue commenced in 1997 to today, Chevrolet has served as the official pace car and truck. This weekend, Chevrolet will proudly lead the field to the green flag for the 34th Cup Series event in 2018 campaign with a production version of the Camaro ZL1. Eighteen of the 40 starters will compete in a racecar version of the Camaro ZL1 to try to earn the nameplate its fifth victory of the 2018 season.

TIEBREAKER: Chevrolet is currently tied for all-time wins at Texas Motor Speedway with 13 victories. This weekend, the Bowtie Brigade will work to break away from the pack to become the all-time wins leader at 19 of the 23 unique venues the NASCAR Cup Series visits annually.

QUOTABLE QUOTES:
CHEVROLET DRIVERS IN PLAYOFF CONTENDERS:
ALAN GUSTAFSON, CREW CHIEF, NO. 9 KELLEY BLUE BOOK CAMARO ZL1 – 6TH IN STANDINGS
On the No. 9 team’s recent success:
“I don’t think there’s one moment that I can say was the turnaround. It’s been coming and coming because of hard work. We’ve got an amazing group of people that work at Hendrick Motorsports. Certainly, great resources, a great boss. If we get an opportunity we can make some things happen. With Texas, we haven’t been good since they reconfigured it, but the result at Kansas certainly makes me feel a little better.”
CHEVROLET DRIVERS NOT IN PLAYOFF CONTENTION:
KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 DC SOLAR CAMARO ZL1 – 12TH IN STANDINGS
“I’m looking forward to getting back to Texas this weekend, and hopefully taking advantage of the speed we usually have when we go there. The last two races at Texas we’ve had really good Chevy’s, but unfortunately have wrecked out early. The track is pretty fun to drive and we’ve been fast there, so I’m hoping for a good race as the season winds down. We’re still working hard to get a win this season, and a track like Texas provides a good opportunity for us. I’m also looking forward to the dash for cash type event Ricky (Stenhouse, Jr.) and I are putting on with the track for kids before the race on Sunday. These types of events are pretty big at some of the local tracks we go to with the sprint cars, so I’m looking forward to bringing that to NASCAR and helping to provide a different experience for some kids. It should be fun.”

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S CAMARO ZL1 – 13TH IN STANDINGS
On the No. 48 team’s recently-announced partnership with Ally Financial and racing at Texas:
“I’m so pumped over the new relationship with Ally we announced last weekend for 2019. It’s so exciting and I’ve been ‘all-in’ so to say, even helping to design paint schemes. Focusing on Texas, it’s always been a good track for us but we have struggled the last two times. I really want to get to 84 wins with (No. 48 team crew chief) Chad (Knaus) on top of the box. We have so much history over these 600 starts together and before the season ends, so we are really trying hard. Texas is a perfect place to get it done.”

ALEX BOWMAN, NO. 88 AXALTA CAMARO ZL1 – 14TH IN STANDINGS
ON THE EVER-CHANGING TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY:
“It’s hard to say. Here lately it’s just been really weather induced. It was super cold last time we were there. It will be interesting to see how the weather is. Obviously, the repave there it’s kind of a weird place now, but our 1.5-mile program has gotten way better, so looking forward to getting back there.”

AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 DOW NORKOOL CAMARO ZL1 – 16TH IN STANDINGS
“Texas Motor Speedway is a bit different from Kansas Speedway in that it is a new surface, and has two different ends. You have one end that’s very banked and has high speeds, and then you have a hard end where you have to get turned and get back on the gas. We’re looking forward to it. We plan to bring a new car to Texas Motor Speedway so we’re looking forward to getting there and seeing what we’ve got with it. Hopefully it pays dividends.”

RYAN NEWMAN, NO. 31 CATERPILLAR NEXT GEN EXCAVATOR CAMARO ZL1 – 17TH IN STANDINGS:
“What I like about Texas Motor Speedway is it provides drivers with a lot of options. You can move around and find a line that your car responds to and it’s really versatile, so you can get around somebody. It’s also fast- really fast – so aero is also an important part of it. With it being one of the older tracks on the circuit asphalt-wise, the racing is always good for both the drivers and the fans watching in the stands and on television. I hope they leave the track’s surface alone.”

AJ ALLMENDINGER, NO. 47 KROGER CLICKLIST CAMARO ZL1 – 22ND IN STANDINGS
“Since the track was repaved last year, I think we’re all still trying to figure it out. Even though we raced there in the spring, the track can still undergo changes throughout the season as it wears in the new surface. The track is coming into its own and developing those bumps and characteristics, but we’re all still figuring it out and learning more changes every time we race there. More than anything, we definitely learned some things at the first race that we can still carry into this race. We had some speed in the spring race, and I think we can get a good finish for our Kroger ClickList team as we come to the final races in the season. My teammate and I both have some positive momentum to build off of after last weekend at Martinsville Speedway, and I think we can bring that into 500 miles at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.”
CHRIS BUESCHER, NO. 37 CLOROX CAMARO ZL1 – 23RD IN STANDINGS
“I love coming home to Texas Motor Speedway. It’s always really great to see family and friends, and we’ll be able to see fans at Kroger in Fort Worth on Thursday for an autograph signing. Not only do I love coming home for that aspect, but the new repave at Texas Motor Speedway has been really good to me. For whatever reason, I’ve been better on the new surface than I was on the old racing surface. We’ve had really good speed and finishes the last few times we have raced there. Looking at the speed we had in the spring and last season, I feel really confident going back and seeing what we can do in our No. 37 Clorox Camaro ZL1. We learned a lot of good things about the new repave that we can bring with us back for this race. Not to mention, we have a whole season of intermediate track notes now that we acquired throughout the season that we can utilize.”

WILLIAM BYRON, NO. 24 HENDRICK AUTOGUARD CAMARO ZL1 – 24TH IN STANDINGS
“Texas is fun. We finished in the top 10 there in the spring, so that was good. Going back there, I think it will be like the other mile-and-a-half tracks where we try to make sure we unload with good speed in the car. I’m sure it will be wild with the playoff battle ongoing too.”

TY DILLON, NO. 13 GEICO MILITARY CAMARO ZL1 – 27TH IN STANDINGS
“I don’t know why, but I’ve always been able to find success at Texas. It has been a good track for me personally, and my team always seems to put their best foot forward there. Our GEICO Racing team finished 13th earlier this year. It’s a fast mile-and-a-half track with the fresh repave and the turns being so different than what we have anywhere else. It’s very unique now, and I think it is only going to get more fun as the track surface ages.”

DARRELL ‘BUBBA’ WALLACE, NO. 43 PIONEER RECORDS MANAGEMENT CAMARO ZL1 – 28TH IN STANDINGS
“We’re excited because we’re going to Texas with a new car in our fleet. It’s like I said at Martinsville, we get to turn over a new leaf. We have struggled this past month. The results don’t measure up to this team, to our expectations and to what we can do. There are many factors to that, but now we have a new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Texas and everyone on the team is anxious to get to the track. We want to finish the season strong and build for next year. This will be a good start.”

REGAN SMITH, NO. 95 PROCORE CAMARO ZL1:
“Looking ahead to this weekend at Texas, the biggest thing for me is that I haven’t been in a (Monster Energy NASCAR) Cup Series car at Texas since they repaved it. Due to that, our weekend is going to consist of me getting acclimated to the track immediately. Once we do that, we’ll get through qualifying and final practice to get everything all adjusted to what I need in our Procore Chevy. I feel like we have a really good plan heading into the weekend as to how we’re going to approach all that. I have been on the track, but I just haven’t been on it in a Cup Series car, which is quite a bit different than the truck that I ran there (November 2017). When I raced the truck at Texas last Fall, I really enjoyed it. Turns 3 and 4 feel almost identical while Turns 1 and 2 are completely different. That’s where the whole challenge for this weekend is going to come in and getting me acclimated as soon as possible is what will make or break our weekend. I certainly feel like we’re more than capable of going there this weekend and having a strong run. Up until Kansas, I really felt as though the 1.5-mile and larger tracks were our strong suit, but I would anticipate that being the case once again for us this weekend. We’d like to rebound from a few of our less than stellar races recently and I think that this weekend would be a great place to do it.”
