Dominic Scelzi Set for Races in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 17, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi is eyeing four races in three days in three different states this weekend.

Scelzi will venture to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., for a special $5,000-to-win show with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series this Friday. He will then head to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where he will race in both the 410ci and 360ci sprint car divisions before wrapping up the weekend on Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., with the IRA Sprint Car Series.

“We’re excited to have a couple of 410 shows and a couple of 360 shows on tap this weekend,” he said. “Jackson has a good paying event that will have a lot of talented drivers competing. Knoxville will give us the chance to get both the 410 and 360 dialed in for the Knoxville Nationals next month. And we had a good run last year at Angell Park so that should be fun to get back there.”

Scelzi is coming off a busy week in Ohio with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series during the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic last Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica and the 35th annual Kings Royal Thursday through Saturday at Eldora Speedway.

“Qualifying is so crucial in all races, but especially when you’re racing with the World of Outlaws,” he said. “The bottom line is that we didn’t have a good qualifying time last week. We moved forward almost every time we were on the track, but qualifying buried us. We definitely had the speed, but track position hampered us.”

Scelzi moved forward in a heat race and the C Main during the Brad Doty Classic before a broken u-joint ended his night early on Tuesday.

He then placed sixth in a heat race during all three nights during the Kings Royal weekend. On Thursday he rallied to place fifth in the Last Chance Showdown, which was only one position shy of making the A Main. Scelzi gained a half-dozen positions in the C Main on Friday and in the Last Chance Showdown on Saturday.

“It’s hard to dig out of a deep qualifying hole,” he said. “We did our best and now we’ll move on to four big races this weekend. I’m excited to get back on the track.”
