Giovanni Scelzi Ready for Ohio Sprint Speedweek Debut This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (June 11, 2018) – Giovanni Scelzi is excited to embark upon his first career Ohio Sprint Speedweek this weekend.

Scelzi will drive for Bernie Stuebgen and the Indy Race Parts team in the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions spectacle, which showcases nine straight days of racing.

“Up to this point it’s just been me and Bernie,” Scelzi said. “We brought in a new guy so that takes some pressure off, which is really nice going into Speedweek. The goals are the same as every race; make every feature, be on the pace and hopefully run in the top half of the field.”

The action begins on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, where Scelzi charged from 15th to fifth during his debut on May 25.

“It helps going to a place I’ve been to,” he said. ‘That was one of my favorite tracks I’ve been to. It was really, really slick with two lanes in the feature. You could definitely move around and pass. It’s a really cool place.”

Scelzi will then make his debut at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, on Saturday before he returns to Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, on Sunday. He posted a fifth-place result at the oval during his debut on May 27.

“It’s small, but really, really fast,” he said. “It was a great race track. I’m looking forward to going back.”

The remaining Speedweek races – June 19 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio; June 20 at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio; June 21 at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio; June 22 at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio; and June 23 at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio – will mark Scelzi’s debut at each track.

“To have a few good runs with the World of Outlaws and be competitive everywhere is a confidence boost going into a bunch of new tracks,” he said. “I feel confident going into this weekend.”
