Dominic Scelzi Returning to Stockton Dirt Track This Saturday

Inside Line Promotions – TULARE, Calif. (May 21, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi is heading to one of his favorite tracks this Saturday when Stockton Dirt Track hosts a race.

Scelzi was victorious at the track in Stockton, Calif., last month when he bested more than 50 drivers to capture the Jimmy Sills Classic. It was his fourth career triumph at the track, which is tied for the most.

“I always enjoy going to Stockton and I’m really looking forward to Saturday,” he said. “Last weekend wasn’t good for us so I can’t wait to get back on the track.”

Scelzi made his debut driving for Roth Motorsports last Friday at Thunderbowl Raceway during the opening night of the Peter Murphy Classic. He qualified third quickest in his group and was running second in a Sprint Car Challenge Tour heat race when a mechanical problem ended the night early.

“It was a shame that happened, but I want to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth as well as Todd Ventura for giving me an opportunity,” he said. “It wasn’t what any of us expected, but that’s how racing goes.”

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway, where Scelzi returned to his family owned sprint car for the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series race. He timed in 16th quickest in qualifying before winning a heat race from the pole position. That lined him up on the inside of the eighth row for the A Main.

“I was running 13th or 14th and it laid rubber a couple of laps in,” he said. “We ran there most of the time, but I had a vibration midway through so we pulled off to not cause any more damage to the car.”

Scelzi was credited with a 19th-place result.

“Weekends like that make you extremely thankful for the speed you’ve had,” he said. “I can’t wait until Stockton on Saturday night. I’m determined to get back to Victory Lane.”
