Acura Teams Look to Score at Mid-Ohio

• Acura Team Penske seeks to convert early-season speed to “home field” victory
• Ohio-based Meyer Shank Racing continues GTD effort with Acura NSX GT3s

TORRANCE, Calif. (May 2, 2018) – Acura teams head to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend looking for victories in both the Prototype and GTD categories, in front of an anticipated large and supportive “hometown” audience.

The Acura Sports Car Challenge of Mid-Ohio marks the return of major endurance racing to the classic road course for the first time since 2013. It also is the first “full field” WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event – featuring all three classes – since the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.

American Honda operates a dozen corporate, manufacturing and R&D facilities in central Ohio, all within a short drive of Mid-Ohio and employing more than 10,000 associates. Many are expected to be on hand this weekend, as Acura Team Penske seeks the first win for the new ARX-05 prototype, while the Columbus-based Meyer Shank Racing organization remains in the thick of the fight for the GTD class championship via its pair of Acura NSX GT3s.

“Acura is coming to Mid-Ohio ready to score one – or two – wins for the ‘home team’,” said Art St. Cyr, president of Honda Performance Development and Acura Motorsports. “Our Acura Team Penske ARX-05s have shown they have the speed to lead, and challenge for victory, at every race this season. The Meyer Shank Acura NSX GT3 effort has also been competitive everywhere, highlighted by a second-place finish at the Rolex 24, and are GTD class contenders. We’d like nothing better than to win both classes in front of all our hometown fans.”
