COURTNEY FORCE LOOKING FORWARD TO CONTINUED 2018 SUCCESS AT
NHRA SOUTHERN NATIONALS
COMMERCE, Ga. (May 2, 2018) — Heading into the seventh of 24 races in NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season the best performing hot rod for John Force Racing is undoubtedly the Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car driven by Courtney Force. Second in points with a win and three No. 1 qualifiers, Force isn’t just enjoying the confidence she has in her race car, she’s looking for ways to continue to get better.

“Job well done by my Advance Auto Parts team. I’m really proud of them. They have given me a fast hot-rod every single race,” Force said. “I was able to pedal my Advance Auto Parts Funny Car in the Charlotte final round and keep it straight. I think I have that figured out and it was a handful on Sunday in Charlotte. I am looking forward to heading to Atlanta. We’ll be trying to get the whole package and take it all the way to the winner’s circle.”

The youngest of the Force sisters, Courtney earned her first victory and No. 1 qualifier of the season at the NHRA Arizona Nationals, setting low ET and top speed of the meet in the process. The victory also ended a 43-race winless record. She went on to be the No. 1 qualifier at the inaugural four-wide event in Las Vegas and the most recent event in Charlotte, the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. At both four-wide formatted races she competed until the final quad, earning semifinal points at each.

“I feel like we have some real momentum right now,” Force explained. “We have a good hot rod and if I can continue to keep getting better as a driver we’ll continue to improve. We aren’t going to give up. Every race is a learning process and that process will continue this weekend in Atlanta.”

Force, the winningest female Funny Car driver in NHRA history, has had success at Atlanta Dragway. She was the No. 1 qualifier at last year’s event and was runner-up to teammate Robert Hight in 2014. She’ll be competing for her first win at the facility.

Qualifying at the NHRA Spring Nationals begins Friday with two sessions at 4:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and continues Saturday with sessions at noon and 3:30 p.m. FOX Sports 1 (FS1) will have live coverage of Friday qualifying beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. Eliminations are slated for Sunday at 11 a.m.
