Martyn Henry Time Attack

Unfortunately 2 engine failures in a row ment we lost out on winning the UK Time Attack championship, but we still managed to retain 3rd place in the end.

The year started off so well Too, we were winning the championship by a good chunk, but round 5 at Oulton Park during qualifying I ran wide on a corner pulling a piece of the front aero off which hit the sump starving the engine of oil, resulting in big end failure, we did manage to take the two wheel drive lap record tho before the engine failed 🙂

I rebuilt the engine ready for the next round but it was a double header at croft, round 6 on the Saturday and 7 on the Sunday, we were really confident tho as I loved this track and always done well at it, we even managed to get another 50bhp out of the engine, now up to 516bhp, but with just 3 laps done a piston fell to bits, these were brand new with the new build, but they were standard Astra vxr pistons, people have ran these up to 600bhp so we had no worry about using them, but they must of not been up to the job at all as we can’t find any other reason for the failure other than just the strength of the piston. So this ment we missed round 6 and 7 now dropping us down from 1st to 4th in the one weekend 🙁

But with a full rebuild again we were out to prove a point that we are the fastest front wheel drive car, and that we did, beating everyone by nearly 2 seconds, winning qualifying and the final, taking the lap record aswell for the class, but even with this we only managed to secure 3rd place.

Still so happy to have achieved this with the issues threw at us, so we ended the year with four 1st places, a 3rd and 3rd in the club 2 wheel drive class in the UK Time Attack Championship.

It was our key goal to dominate and win Time Attack this year so we had to miss a few Super lap scotland rounds, but we still done 2 of them and came 1st in one and 3rd in the other.

Thank you so so so much for your support, none of this would be possible with out it and I hope we done the company proud and publicised it well.
