The Pink Fund

KENOSHA, WI (Sept. 27, 2017) – Gateway Raceway will be the kick-off for Breast Cancer Awareness month with Cruz Pedregon and Snap-on driving to bring attention to The Pink Fund®. The non-profit organization provides short-term financial assistance to cancer patients to cover non-medical living expenses.

In the third year of its partnership, Snap-on is again making an initial $50,000 contribution to the organization, plus additional donations through participating franchisee sales promotions. Through the month of October, the Snap-on Funny Car will sport a special paint scheme and Cruz and team will wear matching crew shirts for NHRA fans to see and learn more about the work of The Pink Fund.

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and the average breast cancer treatment lasts six months. We work to provide financial support that helps meet basic needs and remove some of the financial burden to help breast cancer patients focus on healing,” says Molly McDonald, who founded The Pink Fund after her own diagnosis.

“A breast cancer diagnosis can be devastating for those fighting the disease and for their loved ones, as well. Everyday living expenses just create additional stress during treatment. The Pink Fund has proven itself a powerfully effective organization in reducing this financial burden, and Snap-on is proud to support it and the families it serves,” says Yvette Morrison, vice president of marketing, Snap-on Tools Group. “The Snap-on Funny Car, with its Pink Fund wrap, will be visible to a significant audience of racing fans. And having The Pink Fund founder Molly McDonald in Cruz’s pit to interact with fans whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer creates a greater awareness of The Pink Fund resources available to them.”

Snap-on will have a photo booth in Cruz’s pit Saturday, September 30, and give away pink socks to hospitality guests in advance of its upcoming “Pink Sock Day” social media campaign October 27.
