Dakota Dickerson and Jordan Sherratt Pledge $1000 to American Red Cross

ALTON, VIRGINIA (Aug. 28, 2017)- Dakota Dickerson of San Diego and Jordan Sherratt of Durban, South Africa, donated a portion of their Virginia International Raceway race-winnings to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda drivers, along with a donation-match from SCCA Pro Racing, contributed $1000 to support the American Red Cross efforts to provide clean water, safe shelter and hot meals to disaster victims when they need them most. The pair both have personal ties to the areas affected by the storms.

“Texas is my second home,” said Sherratt, who lives stateside in Dallas during race season. “As I stand up here to accept this check, my engineer’s home is flooding from the heavy rains. So many people who have helped me win, are suffering right now. I want to give back to the state that has welcomed me.”

Dickerson also donated to the American Red Cross relief efforts after receiving his third-place earnings on Saturday.

“While I am not from Texas, my team Kiwi Motorsport’s stateside shop is in Texas,” said Dickerson. “On behalf of Kiwi Motorsport, we want to donate a portion of our winnings to the Red Cross to help the people who have been displaced from Hurricane Harvey.”

SCCA Pro Racing matched the drivers’ donations.

“We have a great group of competitors on and off the track, so it’s no surprise that these two made the decision to give a portion of their winnings to help others in need,” said SCCA Pro Racing Vice President Steve Oseth. “SCCA Pro wanted to encourage these types of selfless acts by matching their donations.”
