LEXINGTON, Ohio (July 29, 2017) – The Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R won its first Pirelli World Challenge race Saturday as Lawson Aschenbach won the opening GTS race of the weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Aschenbach took the victory by 2.047 seconds in the Blackdog Speed Shop No. 10 Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R.

The result extends Chevrolet’s lead in the GTS Manufacturer’s Championship. Aschenbach also leads in Driver’s points with 10 podium finishes in 11 races.

Earlier this month, the Camaro GT4.R won for the first time in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The next Pirelli World Challenge GTS race is set for 9:05 a.m. ET on Sunday.

LAWSON ASCHENBACH, BLACKDOG SPEED SHOP NO. 10 CHEVROLET CAMARO GT4.R – GTS RACE WINNER: “Finally! The Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R was fast. It’s been fast since we rolled it off the trailer. I’m really pleased to finally get a win for these guys. They deserve it more than anyone else. Doing all the hard work, getting the cars and doing one test day before St. Pete to get a double podium. But I’m not going to lie; it’s been a little frustrating not getting that first win. We kept persevering and fighting hard. Fortunately we got it today. I’m really pleased for everyone and excited to start on the pole for tomorrow.”

SHAWN MEAGHER, CHEVROLET CAMARO GT4.R PROGRAM MANAGER: “This is really exciting. It has been a great month for the whole Camaro GT4.R program. For Blackdog Speed Shop to come through and get a win means a lot. They’ve been an integral part of this program for several years, and they’ve worked hard to get this. It’s good to have it here at Mid-Ohio… close to home for most of these guys. We’re looking forward to the race tomorrow with Lawson on pole and for the rest of the season.”
